I was hoping that might be possible but didn't know if it would still 'work'

I'm trying to shop bridesmaid dresses

Normally I love a dress- I know exactly the shape that suits me (plunge neck and/or empire line, nips in under the bust and then flares out). I have lots of lovely dresses. I'm a size 18-20 after putting on some weight due to medical issues in recent years so I know this shape works.

However, bride doesn't want a v-neck or plunge on bridesmaids as a) it is similar to hers and b) one of the bridesmaids has a tattoo on her chest she wants covered (without hurting her feelings).

So this is the type of dress she is looking at. I'm really worried I will just look like a blob (both bride and other bridesmaids are slim and gorgeous). If we got something like this is there anything a professional seamstress could do to make it a little more flattering?

I make bags and quilts so have no idea...

Postal Delay ???????  :o

What have you heard ???

It just seems to be the way that whenever I send things to anyone on this board it takes forever this year.... lol

I have got my gift all organised for once  I am going to package it up and send it at the end of the week to allow for the guaranteed postal delays!

@Diane

Thank you for the close up shot it is really clear now. I love hand work and will often go through phases of hand embroidery, I’ve not seen the honeycomb stitch before though, it is really clever so I’m off to investigate. Thank you for the YouTube links

Well, I’ve already made the first part for my swappee so hopefully it will meet their needs! Going to finish it off when I know who I have. I’ve just realised though that I have definitely made a feminine item which I hope won’t be a problem

They look great! What did you fill them with? Plastic pellets? Rice?

I think it is beautiful and I think beads a gorgeous texture and dimension to the dragonfly. How did you do the wings? They are so delicate and beautiful

I’m putting an extra restriction on myself - it can’t be a bag or purse as you are all bored of seeing them haha! A friend has asked for a small storage tub to go on her hall table for ‘bits’ (we have one to keep opened post in, pencils, dog poop bags for when we walk next doors dog - basically anything that otherwise clutters the hall!)

I’m going to make it a round container with foam for the structure. Rather than cotton I’m hoping to use scraps of Harris Tweed in some sort of patchwork as I think it will look more substantial. Hopefully I’ll also have some suitable leather or PU leftovers I can use for decorative handles.

I am addicted to zips and zipper pulls - it is almost as bad as my fabric habit now haha

I'll send a PM now and start thinking about what to make and then leave fabric choices etc until I know who I have as I would like to try and make it in a style they would like!

@Ellabella I think it will look good with webbing. I got some nice webbing from ebay before but lots of places sell it. Nylon webbing is cheaper than thick cotton but it depends what style you are after. I made up one of her bum bags this morning for my sister for dog walking. I used cotton webbing   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Bother! Thank you for the reminder Darling xxx

@Iminei we could always swap it to a later month as it is a lot for you to organise so soon after the mug rugs x

@StitchinTime I think it was very clever to turn the zip into a handle - because of that, the lace zip definitely looks better. It is also a very clever pattern and I like the fact it turns into a box so I’m going to look up the pattern - thanks
