It is lovely Iminei, I still can't see the imperfections and now I have a hankering to do another of these....

@Iminei, I like the Jordan videos. She is very clear and her patterns work, at least in my very limited experience. You said you wanted to make a smaller quilt with this pattern. Try this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7vb8xb8eGk

Block of the Month 2020 / Re: Novembers BOM
« on: January 02, 2021, 06:29:16 AM »
Dear lot, you guys are wonderful, and your quilts for the BOM are absolutely stunning. Sadly, I didn't make it...life has been complicated at best, with a very fragile business to shore up and the added excitment/stress of hopefullyifnothingfallsthroughthistime...buying the house we have been waiting for, for the past five years. Yes I know that sounds obsessive, and  a long story lies therein. The upshot of it is zero free time, until today. Literally. We usually close over the Christmas school break, but this year had needed to maintain the minimum, so little in the way of rest. This, by the way, is no whinge, and i am not unhappy with the status quo (stressed, massively) but I did think that I needed to explain to you all, why I sorta had to give up and disappear off the threads in October...
I am happy I participated, even if I couldn't finish in the time...sounds pretty weak, one simple quilt over a 12 month period, but life has just played out that way.  Having said that, I have learned a lot, and will continue to do so, as I WILL finish, and when I do, large or small, I will bring it on here for you to see.

That is awesome! I would love to think that one day, with much practice, much patience and a favourable wind, I will be capable of something like this....but I doubt I will ever be good enough! Congratulations, it is beautiful!

Thank you my friends for all the input. I have to go to a real fabric shop to get something my mother has asked for, so I think I will try (if husband dearest doesn't faint at the size of the shop) to buy the fabric for the front. For those asking at the beginning, I am looking at doing 4'' squares, making up at 80 inch, including borders. Will take this to my diary once I have the time and the fabric to start!!!

I am stumped. Husband has asked me if I would make a "trip around the world" quilt for our bed. It will be the biggest quilt I have ever done, and the pattern requires 13 fabrics, plus backing. I have thought about it, and have some idea of the colour combo I like, but how to go about choosing 13 fabrics that will go well together? I am maybe not making sense - if that is the case, please tell me, and I will try to make myself more clear. Thing is, this is going to be quite an investment in fabric, for me, and I really don't want to bugger it up! Can anyone give me tips on how to start?
I have gone on patternjam and put this together, but when looking at actual fabrics online (where I can't really put them against each other) I get really lost!

@Efemera, you are a very, very talented lady. I cannot begin to imagine how many hours went into that. Congratulations on your beautiful quilt!
