Title: Demin for jeans
Post by: Goth Gardiner on December 31, 2020, 11:31:12 AM
Hi all,

I am thinking I may enter the jeans challenge in February. I doubt I will be out of Tier 4 by then so will need to buy everything online, including fabric.

I have absolutely no stretch fabric to use for a toille, so want to buy cheap denim with the hope of making a wearable toille that I can wear around the house if it's not good enough to be seen in public. I will probably use the ginger jeans stretch pattern. The demin has to be black!

What do you think of this?

Any better suggestions would be appreciated.

Personally I think that’s a lot of poly in it.  But that’s just me!   :)
Also found these.  Depends how much you want to pay.  Found quite a lot online actually.

I just finished a pair of Style Arc Barbs using this type of denim, definitely has poly in it but can't remember the exact ratio. I think it would be fine for a wearable toile of the Ginger Jeans. It's not so great for the Barbs. I think there is too much ease in the pattern for this particular fabric. The Gingers are fitted in the leg so should be okay. I have more of my fabric so might try a different pattern. The Barbs are fine for hanging out in the house.

https://www.croftmill.co.uk/denim-gloss (https://www.croftmill.co.uk/denim-gloss)
98% Cotton 2% Lycra

90% cotton 8% poly and 2% spandex

48% Cotton, 48% Polyester, 4% Elastane

The more lycra/elastane/spandex the more stretch the fabric has.

Jeans usually require 8oz - 11oz denim.  Anything lighter is better for shirts, heavier will be like a board to wear.  Info at
