Hi, I am wanting to have a go at FPP. A barn owl if possible. I have searched everywhere for a suitable pattern but can't find one. Maybe I should try something simple to start with then lead up to a more complex one. Does anyone know of a pattern or how I could make my own? It's going to be a cushion as a Christmas present.
Help!

There are the fancy forest owls but I dont think they are FPP.

Lowena has made them, so you could ask her about them.
Or you could take a simple image and applique that?

But if you really want to FPP and pay for a pattern, a quick google comes up with many (https://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB744GB744&biw=1279&bih=619&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=N8qUW62pHcKD8gLMsK6YBg&q=barn+owl+fppp+pattern&oq=barn+owl+fppp+pattern&gs_l=img.3...48183.52002.0.52386.13.13.0.0.0.0.99.874.13.13.0....0...1c.1.64.img..0.2.176...0j0i67k1.0.kbT2cEuf3ho#imgrc=FfsqH4ds9k1PxM:)...

Thanks @Iminei I wondered about applique too. Maybe I will go with that instead. :) :vintage:

That is applique tho' and very nice it is too ... much better for anything with soft curves.
Print a good pic out on several pieces of paper and cut out the separate pieces ... Body, wings, eyes etc
Trace round those on yet more paper ... freezer paper would be good here or the double sided fusi stuff (which I can not for the life of me remember the name of at the moment) ...
Think how you will be building the owl back up and add a margin to any pieces that will be underneath another one.
Pretty simple really ... looking forward to seeing your process and of course, the end result.

I don't find the idea simple at all @Iminei it's surely the work of  Far,far, far too much paper, tracing and generally mucking about :S

Thanks @Iminei It has been going through my mind on how to get this done. Your pointers are very welcome and inspiring. I will share my progress on this thread - when I have the picture I want. I may have to be a bit crafty because the person this is for has a stuffed, pardon the expression, barn owl on one of his display cabinets. My camera will be on the ready :ninja: :vintage:

Thanks @Iminei that's given me food for thought. There's some nice background scenes, I hadn't thought about background, but it would make a nice picture.
I am looking though my fabric scraps for suitable colours. :vintage:

I found this on @Renegade Sewist's pinterest. I don't know if it's adaptable to your plans but I thought it was lovely. :)

Yes @wrenkins that is lovely, I'm sure I could copy that. Thank you! I will take a look on pinterest to see if there is a pattern. :vintage:

Thanks @Iminei that looks a bit too challenging, great picture, I will think about it.
I bought some bits of fabric at the market yesterday and will post a pic later -< :vintage:

Here is some of the fabric I am thinking will help to make this applique block cushion. I will need some paler cream which I will get from my stash.
The green one and beigey one I hope I will be able to construct a background.
-
Not done much with this yet, cut out wings and head in fabric to get an idea. I just bought some bondaweb so hopefully I will find time to play with it :) :vintage:
