Title: Sewing/selling children's clothes. The legal bits?
Post by: crafter on April 10, 2019, 22:01:49 PM
Does anyone have any information of making handmade children's clothes and selling them (knitting and sewing).  As usual, I always have a project in mind (hate retirement, climbing the walls! :P) but I am sure that this must be entrenched in legislation.  Any advice, or can someone point me in the right direction. :D

I do know that children's night clothes are fraught with difficulties because of regulations regarding fire-resistance.

I only make kids stuff as gifts for family because there are complex regs about selling kids clothes, something to do with fibre content and fire safety.
I don't have kids though so am not really up on it, just decided it was a whole area I would avoid.

I'm sure if you do some detailed internet searching you'll be able to find out a bit more.

Not an area I would touch.  There are all sorts of reg's concerning buttons, seams, etc.
I’m sure you,d be able to find out by doing a search.
