Title: Hi!
Post by: RJR_38 on June 11, 2019, 21:45:32 PM
Hi everyone! I am so pleased to discover a UK based forum as I live Buckinghamshire! I have been on American ones for several years but am looking forward to being on in here as well.

I mainly quilt and have been making bags and simple hime furnishings. I love to paper piece (the more detailed and complicated the better) and have tried most types of hand sewing.

I would love to expand my repertoire even further so I’m looking forward to having a rummage around previous posts and getting stuck in.

Welcome from me too. It's great to have a new Darkside member - you'll be made to feel right at home by all the other quilters on here. I love paper piecing too (I assume you mean FPP and not EPP) and I agree, the more complicated the better. :) Looking forward to seeing what you make.

Hi,

Yes Kenora I do mainly FPP. Although I have made an EPP quilt and have a passacaglia EPP quilt on the back burner for when I feel the need to do some hand work.

I was going to post a picture of my latest FPP quilt but it seems I have to pay to be able to do that?

Hello and welcome ...

All forums cost money to run and whilst you are welcome to participate in the forum for free, subscribing and supporting TSP brings a few extra perks such as the ability to post pictures direct from your files, access to the subscriber lounge.

And we value everyone who subscribes (https://thesewingplace.org.uk/index.php/topic,28.0.html) and supports The Sewing Place.

I had to look up passacaglia quilt. It's a millefiori.  Looks terribly detailed and complicated.
Example from Google: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=passacaglia+quilt&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=9Nb4rpJWwIxfoM:

As a non-subscriber you can still post pictures by using an image hosting website and posting the link from there with the img tags.

There are instructions for using Flickr here (https://thesewingplace.org.uk/index.php/topic,3741.0.html) (third post down) and a comment about using lunapic, and there are instructions for using Imgur here. (https://thesewingplace.org.uk/index.php/topic,46.0.html)

Welcome to TSP. As @Acorn says, there are ways to share pictures without being a subscriber, but I think you need to have posted 25 times before you can include a link in your posts (admins - please correct this if it is wrong).

Thanks for the warm welcome. Completely understand forums cost money to run and if I use it as much as my American quilting ones I will be happy to pay.

Have to wait and see :)

Welcome from me too, another one who lives in Buckinghamshire, only I am high up in the Chiltern Hills.  What part are you living in?

Whilst I am more dressmaker than quilting, I have once or twice dabbled  in a little quilting, but my need is dressmaking.  However I have a  long standing friend who also lives in Buckinghamshire and she does quilt - she is Twopence on here - I am sure she will be along soon to say hello.

Hi,

I too am in the Chiltern Hills but on the edge of them I would say. Good to see some people who are close by on here. I’ve not been brave enough to try dress masking yet...

@RJR_38 I'm Twopence as Elnnina said and I quilt and sometimes dressmake too.  Having lived on the hills near to Elnnina, I'm now down in the vale.

I’ve just seen where you are on the map and I am in one of the next towns over, P-R!
