It's like LeilaMay's £10 Featherweight!
Oh please don't remind us about that Featherweight  :'(

Puts head above parapet

Pattern size and RTW size are not the same (as I found out when I started my jacket toile).
If any clothes sewer ventured into the Dark Side, but then ran in the very early stages you would be encouraging them to persevere as they would get better with practice.

Ducks back below parapet

Syrinx, I am filled with admiration for the task you have set yourself.

Please forgive a slight chuckle over trying the jacket on the horse.

Congratulations. Beautiful work.

What a nice jacket! I'm sure it's not your size girls....  ;)

Jessie
Good point as sizing has changed over the years. Actually when I measured for my jacket toile I realised I needed to start with 14 and take in the bits where I still pass for a 12.
Oh well.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Which way up is my fabric?

Well I would be careful if it was a design that had an obvious up and down like 'why are your flowers upside down'?
Otherwise I would agree with Jo.

Reads Brenda's post and thinks 'yes, sensible, just a pricey toy you wouldn't use'

Looks at Bodgeit's pic and thinks 'oh, I like that'

I am not even moaning really, we are all having to do it, we are the emergency services after all and we are living in a difficult time but we are human too and we get tired of people like the prime minister saying that it is not how many officers you have it is how you deploy them that matters.  Well sweets maybe that goes for MPs too! And on that note I am off to work and not the Father's Day lunch the rest of my family are off to apart from the doctor brother and matron sister in law!!
RD, I seem to be bumping into similar discussions on various forums (fora)
and found a poem lurking at the back of my memory

    O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,

Morgan had a really useful thread on TSF on how to make tailored shoulder pads - now sadly lost! How I wish I had printed it off at the time.
I keep remembering all those threads I filed on TSF for future reference  :'(

In the wardrobe / Shoulder pads - help/advice needed please
« on: June 15, 2017, 11:03:47 AM »
Prompted by comments in the Riding Habit thread I realised that I will need shoulder pads for my toile and then the actual jacket.

Are all shoulder pads equally good (in my case whatever JL has in stock tomorrow) or does quality vary, do people have preferences/on-line sources etc?

Still working (intermittently) on the toile.
It hasn't landed in the bin - yet.
Maybe it's using calico, but trying to match the curves on all the body sections is driving me up the wall. I do understand the advantage of having several sections to get a better fit but.....
