Post by: Deafoldbat on June 11, 2022, 19:23:00 PM
A general talk about quilt judging, with particular reference to FoQ system.
Runs about 20 mins.

Thanks DOB ... Im wading through this, listening to her but wishing it was a podcast (?) rather than visual as almost everything about Phillipa Naylor is irritating me (yes, I know that says more about me than her)

Its as if shes been given a check list to make herself interesting and arty farty ...

Massive lips in the Darkest Boldest red available .... Check
Slightly odd Hairstyle ... Check
Fingernails painted in different colours ... Check
Wierdest waistcoat/tabard ... Check
(nice fabric actually but severely let down by the at odds binding and massive out of place string ties ?)

And what is going on with the biggest puffiest sleeves ... in the World ???? (said ala Jeremy Clarkson)

The only thing she has gone down the Look at Me, Im an Artist route is colouring her hair in weird colours.

So there I am trying not to look but only hear and then she says 'I trained as a clothing designer'

After I got back on my chair ......

I did one of her workshops at Festival of Quilts a few years ago and was surprised that she is a lightsider and a darksider. She is very familiar with garment construction (industrial and domestic) and then moved to patchwork and quilting, doing hours of practice to build her skills for miniature quilts. I was very impressed by her depth of knowledge and the amount she managed to fit into a half day workshop. I was more interested in what she was wearing for the techniques used and the precision of sewing than for her appearance.

I see what you mean @Iminei I'm afraid those lips are so distracting as well, and the hands, and the glasses   I didn't hear the voice, no sound as usual.

Thanks for posting @Deafoldbat very interesting.

I turn the sound down on the laptop @Iminei , lips move I don't hear.  It has to be really good before I turn the sound on. People never get to the point and once they waffle I lose the plot.

@Gernella There are subtitles - proper ones, not the garbled auto ones you get sometimes

She looks like a young Iris Apfel.
