Machine Accessories / Re: Very cheap foot actually works!

I might think about getting one, one day.
I do have a few hobbies that can be quite expensive and also have a 10 year old Son - so I cant be too self-indulgent, at least not for a few years yet.  :thumb:

I do want one @Surest1tch but I'm also a bit hesitant. I get quite stressed with my machine that has one needle, let alone 3.

I dont have an overlocker (yet ) so I was looking at those side-cutter feet. I didn't want to spend £30 on the Singer one, so just bought a really cheap one from ebay.

I did a little test on some denim and it came out really well. This is waaaay better than how my seam allowances usually look.

Not too shabby eh?

Well after a horrendous experience the other day with my machine, I decided to buy a new pedal (0nly £13.99 inc.P&P)

What a difference  0_0
I now have full control, much better than with the old one - even on it's good days. No more anxiously pressing my foot as gently as possible trying to go slow, only for it to blast on like a jackhammer. I can just plonk my foot on and get a nice slow pace straight away. It also stays the same speed rather than jumping around.

It's like a whole new machine.

Cheered me right up it has  :)

Just curious, but what are those 'teeth' looking things on the underside of the top section?

It should be easier fitting for a man I would think? Men's jeans are quite square and straight. Unless your chap is like me and has Beyonce thighs and child-bearing hips 😆

Good luck!

Patterns Discussion / Simplicity 8753 -Classic shirt
« on: June 24, 2022, 21:03:17 PM »
I'm considering making an Oxford shirt for my next UAP (un-attempted projects) and Simplicity do a 'classic shirt' 8753 which looks to me like an Oxford, but I can't quite tell from the picture.

Has anyone sewn this before, or can you tell from the picture? Or maybe can suggest another pattern?

Thanks

Edit - I think the collars are not right, too pointy.
This is what I'm looking for;
