@Francesca
Thanks for the ravelry link and, as I am registered on  ravelry I've sent a grovelling message to someone who's got a stash of the right colour so we'll see how that progresses....

A Good Yarn / Compatible wool to contrast with Wendy frizzante
« on: February 05, 2019, 18:21:32 PM »
I've run out frizzante which is discontinued.
Any ideas of a similar wool which would contrast.  I've made an armchair throw and want to knit a seat cushion cover.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
TIA.

Faint hope someone might have some of this lurking about that they are willing to sell...
I've knitted a throw for the back of an armchair and would dearly love to knit a seat cushion cover.
Any amount would be welcome..
Have tried google and can only find one ball in a mixed lot on eBay.
 :'(
Fingers crossed...

@Jpsukman
Hi,
I ended up buying a stand-alone coverstitcher and reverted to using the 744 as an overlocker  :[

Vintage Machines / Bernina Nova
« on: February 04, 2019, 14:23:21 PM »
Hi,
Not sure if this qualifies as a "vintage machine" but does anyone have an opinion on this machine?
I have an opportunity to buy a used one, which looks to be in VGC and it would be handy as a machine to keep downstairs for simple sewing projects when I sometimes sew in the kitchen.
Is the stitch quality ok?
Any info gratefully received.

@Iminei
I do tighten it up but am careful not to overtighten, I then check it doesn't wobble/isn't loose.
However, after a little while it becomes loose.
I think it might be connected to the movement (vibration) of the machine stitching which makes the screw holding the post in place to become loose.
I've written an e-mail to the dealer (who does have a website but with no terms and conditions!!) and will see what the feedback is.
I don't want to have a "fight" about it, but £899 for a new machine (purchased late October 2018) which appears to have a fault is not something I can just shrug my shoulders about.
I shall post another thread in The Café as I have learned something interesting about payment plans today which other forum members might find useful to know ...

@Francesca    @Goth Gardiner
Thanks for the feedback

The shank actually fell off the post while I was stitching mid-seam and  .bounced under the needle.
AS this is a new machine and under full guarantee I think I really should  take it up with the shop I bought it from.

Hi,
I have an Atelier 5 which I bought last November brand new, and I've  noticed what I think may be a problem..

The shank which holds the foot keeps coming loose after a few hours of use.
I tighten it up when this happens but it works itself loose again over time.
I'm wondering if the screw thread within the post which supports the shank is damaged ? :'(

Has anyone had similar problems (Maybe @Francesca and @Imenei may have some knowledge as I believe they both have/had this machine).
Thanks in advance,
Annieeg

Thank you to all of the posters who responded to my search.
I have now sourced the pattern, so found my Holy Grail.
Now I just have to make it.

I had a look at this site and the video tutorial for the hoodie, during which the demonstrator referred to using a Pfaff and "the upper transport facility" being very  useful.
Excuse my ignorance but what is the "upper transport facility"?
