At the risk of being overly obvious, have you done a search for “flour sack fabric”?

Sometimes, you do need to step back from a project. Looking at it later, with fresh perspective may help.

But I must tell you, that when I saw the title of this thread I thought that someone heard that I was at a loss for words! 

Why art OR embroidery? They’re not mutually exclusive options and I’d say these are both.

For that, I suppose either would e fine.

A million years ago, I took sewing in school. I learned 2 important things;
1) The basics of using a sewing machine
2) That I have absolutely no talent for making clothing.

More recently, I have taken some One-day classes at sewing stores, and a couple of longer courses through the retirees branch of my union.  There are some things (notably free-motion embroidery) that I have learned mostly from YouTube. 

After trying some basic quilting projects, I joined the local quilt guild, where I continue to learn.

Of course it’s up to her, but unless it was a very expensive machine to begin with, I’d be inclined to replace.
