Embroidery Machines / Problem threading my embroidery machine.
« on: September 14, 2020, 14:23:12 PM »
My threader was malfunctioning so I got it fixed (under warranty.). Yesterday, I finally had a chance to use it again.  I had no problems threading, except for one spool of black embroidery thread.  I can’t understand why the threader worked with all the other colors, but not that one.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any ideas why this would happen?

Fun with Fabric / Re: Flour Sack Fabric

At the risk of being overly obvious, have you done a search for “flour sack fabric”?

There's a lot going on there, so I'd call it busy, but never ugly!  Memory quilts could never be that.

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: A rare occurrence

Sometimes, you do need to step back from a project. Looking at it later, with fresh perspective may help.

But I must tell you, that when I saw the title of this thread I thought that someone heard that I was at a loss for words!  :D

Patch seems to be the right word. At least, it’s the one I like best.

Embroidery and Embellishment / Re: Art or embroidery?

Why art OR embroidery? They’re not mutually exclusive options and I’d say these are both.

@fajita that’s adorable. What did you use to fill it?

For that, I suppose either would e fine.

I have a couple of ammo boxes of various sizes & keep fabric in them. (Ammo boxes are cheap and great for storing lots of stuff.)

A million years ago, I took sewing in school. I learned 2 important things;
1) The basics of using a sewing machine
2) That I have absolutely no talent for making clothing.

More recently, I have taken some One-day classes at sewing stores, and a couple of longer courses through the retirees branch of my union.  There are some things (notably free-motion embroidery) that I have learned mostly from YouTube.

After trying some basic quilting projects, I joined the local quilt guild, where I continue to learn.

Another way to make a border is to use some strips from a jelly roll in complementary colors.

Of course it’s up to her, but unless it was a very expensive machine to begin with, I’d be inclined to replace.
