A Good Yarn / Re: Over tight stranded colour work
« on: January 16, 2019, 15:31:23 PM »
I bit the bullet this morning and pulled out the colourwork.

I've ordered the next two sizes of needle tips and will carry on from there.

I realised that loose and tighter sections would increase my similarity to the Michelin Man, not a good look to go for :S

A Good Yarn / Over tight stranded colour work
« on: January 15, 2019, 22:37:39 PM »
I am attempting my first go at stranded colour work.
I am doing a sweater out of Knit Now 96, I cant link to the pattern.  It has bands of colour work separated by bands of textured pattern in the main colour.

The first colorwork band is much tighter than the textured areas

Is there anything I could do to even things out, other than pulling it back and reknitting the colour work with a larger needle?

That’s beautiful, very serene.

I’ve had the Sabrina Slims pattern for ages and keep meaning to try it. How did you find it @Catllar   LNs patterns are usually good but some people mentioned trouble with the waistline.

I’m thinking really bright colours as I will probably use it as a quilt in the room the GKs use.
12 vertical columns of HSRs separated by sashing in either black or dark blue, something fairly simple as I have so much to do this year I really don’t want to get overwhelmed.

Hopefully my internet will be back on tomorrow so I can do a proper fabric search, hate trying on my phone.

@Sakar which two cities?

What size temperature range are you using for each colour?

I was thinking 5 degrees but that won’t use that many colours.

Haven’t checked the stats yet but we usually go from about -5 at the worst to high 20s if we have a summer like last year

I think you'd better amend the title of this thread then Lowena,

TSPs 2019 Temperature Quilt challenge ??? with a few rules / guidelines / stipulations / time frame etc.....

No way that’s going to happen @Iminei, rules pah, stipulations no way. The 2019 Lowena is a freewheeling, break the rules type of gal. Good god, she’ll be wearing green knickers next.  :fish:

My lord @Lowena what has happened?

A quilt that will be hanging around for a whole year :S. I think I need a lie down.

I’ve seen the blankets and wondered how Pearl was getting on but never thought of a quilt.

Here’s me being rather proud of myself that for the past six months I have followed your mantra ‘finish one project before you start the next’ and you are going completely the other way!

Off to Pintrest for inspiration. It would be fun to compare at the end of the year if a few people had a go.

A Good Yarn / Re: Use by dates on yarn
« on: December 02, 2018, 09:53:42 AM »
Mmm, just googled the dyer.  I think it was originally her own joke.
The yarn is also "for external use only".  Sorry I didn't see it right away.

Silly me, should have thought of doing that.

It is gorgeous yarn, almost good enough to eat.
