Hi everyone
It's my friend's birthday at the start of July so I'm working on a present. She likes bee motifs so she's getting a bee themed quilted table runner which is about the right size for her small dining table and some matching placemats. And maybe some coasters if I have enough of the little squares left.
I really like the fabrics, they're just a FQ pack from eBay.

(images on the forum aren't appearing for me at the moment - not sure if they are for everyone else as well, so here's the direct link just in case (https://i.imgur.com/yzfvk9X.png))
Still umming and ahhing about the layout for the runner at the moment, does this look balanced to you?

Your pics are showing just fine for me @bec but always good to include a linky.
Im sure she will love the gift keep us updated!

Very nice -it'll be a great gift!

Lovely!

Thanks all, it's coming along. :) The tops for the runner, the four placemats and one of the coasters are now assembled:

Looks like I have just enough of the yellow to do another three coasters the same.
I'm pleased with a lot of these intersections..

I've just taken delivery of another metre of the navy bee fabric which I'm hoping will be enough to back and bind all these (fingers crossed). For the quilting I'm thinking I'll do some swirly whirly 'bee path' style FMQ in light blue.
-
It looks great! I wonder if a light grey or cream might be better for the whirly bee path - especially on the yellow? Easiest way to tell is to audition the thread on the fabric of course...
-
I've quilted the table runner and one of the placemats but have run out of both thread and backing/binding fabric. -< So progress stalled for now.

My friend's birthday is 7th July so plenty of time to stock up, should be a pretty comfy roll to the finish line.
Must say quilting this has felt much less like strength training than anything else I've made. :D Maybe next time I'll try and figure out QAYG.

That looks lovely, a very thoughtful gift which I am sure will be appreciated.

The table runner is done :toast:

Placemats need binding and I'll make some coasters with whatever scraps remain, then done! :)
I find binding difficult and stressful but I think the corners came out okay, e.g.

Lovely! And the corners look good to me.

Well Done! I really like how the colours / patterns you've chosen play off of each other.
Corners are quite neat too!

 I do love the way the quilting looks like the flights of the bees.

Those look lovely altogether, well done.
I've been wearing one of those fabrics for a face mask for the last year!
