Fun with Fabric / Re: Where, How and Why do you buy fabric?
« on: June 17, 2019, 08:24:49 AM »
Where - mainly online, there is one good shop about 15 miles away. I have been to a show once a couple of years ago and bought loads there  :) I would dearly love to have a shopping paradise nearby but closest to me I reckon would be deepest darkest Yorkshire. Please correct me of I'm wrong.

How - in the sales, with a discount code, some has been gifted to me.

Why - these days for a specific project, or for the stash. My stash is not small and in the past I've bought fabric cos I  <3 it then when it comes to making something I can't find anything suitable  :S so I try to rein myself in now til I've ploughed through it.

Fun with Fabric / Re: The smell of vintage fabric... tips please

Eeuww, stinky fabric. I would suggest a good airing in fresh air, or perhaps dry-cleaning? Surely even the most delicate of fabrics can be dry-cleaned.....

Publications / Re: Sewing magazine sold in the U.K.?
« on: June 04, 2019, 15:45:13 PM »
I receive Simply Sewing by subscription, it's a yearly Christmas present from the OH.

It's ok, there's always at least two free patterns and tutorials on how to make stuff without a pattern. There's always craft ideas too and actually not too many adverts. The patterns are not always garments, sometimes they're accessories.

I suppose it depends on your skill level/interests as to whether it's of any use to you.

BST fabrics have a few elephant prints, not like the one in your picture unfortunately, but if that's out of circulation you might like their alternatives  ><
