Unfortunately, WildAtlanticWay has had to withdraw from buying the Bernina, as she isn't able to get it over from here to there  :)

I have messaged @Sewbusy - but I think she has the builders arriving this morning (?) so it may be a bit of wait  :D

The Singer 99 is now (Monday afternoon) listed on ebay so if anyone was interested it would be best to speak up now  :)
Thank you

Vintage Machines / Re: I just couldn't resist . . . VESTA

You are so clever with these machines and it’s so nice to see them getting a new lease of life.

My Swiss ancestors were watch makers, but I can't get my head around the really tiny parts in clocks or watches. These old mechanicals are quite self explanatory if you get them going :)

Making some progress with the Vesta, in that I now know exactly where it's seized.  :[
Having disconnected the main drive from the shuttle movement mechanism, the wheel spins, the needle bar rises and falls with that wonderful double-beat of the oldest machines, rather like a heart-beat, and the feed-dogs move.

But the mechanism that causes the shuttle to fly backwards and forwards is jammed up solid.
Now it is on with the Tri-flow!

I do have quilting needles, but I suspect you'd do just fine with universal.
That said, if you use spray glue or any fusible stuff, specially coated glue needles behave better  :)

@LeilaMay I'm in Swindon so not too far from me for collection.

I see there are others interested (not surprisingly, if no one else commits to buying please let me know and I'd be happy to purchase.

:) Hiya
You haven't said which machine you were after, but I presume you mean the Bernina?

AT the moment @WildAtlanticWay would like it - but there is a question about how she would get it from here to there.
If she is unable to organize that, and doesn't buy it, I will get back to you - you officially occupy place #2 in the queue  :)
Thank you, and have a lovely weekend

They all sound great ideas LOL
Let me know what you chose to do, and how the arrangements work, and then we can sort out payment.

Oh, @LeilaMay   that Bernina looks so beautiful.
I missed out buying the same model last year as I couldn’t get to Dublin in time. 🙁 (Elnnina knows that story.)

If you’ve not already sold it, I’d really love your Bernina but I’m back in Ireland now, so it would have to be couriered unless we could get it to London? My SSon in London is planning to visit us later this summer and they always drive over as he hates flying. Otherwise, I’d be happy to pay for a courier if you’d be willing to sell it to me?

I've not had any other definite offer for the Bernina yet, so you would be welcome to buy i if you would like it  :)

Regards getting it to London - last time I sold a machine, folks from here were kind enough to create a chain of meet-ups (often with tea and cake!) and passed the machine along to it's destination in stages.
You are most welcome to make a thread - possibly here or in the cafe area or something? - and ask if anyone can hep create such a train again? I'm happy to start it off from Glastonbury - but obviously it depends if folks can help after that?

Courier - I'm less comfortable with that idea - I have no packing crate for the machine for starters, and not sure how well it would travel - they tend to not be handled with such loving care as we would.

Have a think, maybe try out the idea of moving it to London by helpful folks here - and ley me know?

:)

@LeilaMay  Whereabouts in Somerset are you for collection?
I'm in Glastonbury, but happy to travel a few miles in any direction to be helpful - that's how we ended up meeting up with @realale  when @Ouryve  bought a machine from me last year :)

I have a friend who might be interested in the Bernina.  I've emailed her and will let you know what she says.

That's very kind of you, thank you  :)
Obviously if they end up on ebay they'd be more expensive than this, so I think she'd be getting a bargain. You are welcome to chat with @Ouryve about what she thought of the machine I sold to her, to give you some background.

Thank you very much
Leila

BERNINA 830 Record

Next up - clean and ready to go

This machine has knee-lift option, ( knee lift there and works, I checked it) 10 bobbins and ten feet in the tool box, and works really nicely, I made a set of curtains on it last year to test it out  :)

I'm seeking £100 here for this one, collection from Somerset unless you can organize pony express.

The motor cover has discoloured as you can see in the last picture.
Capacitors have been replaced with new from the Bernina Doctor.

Okay, having a bit of trouble with the  photographs, but I do have plenty more if anyone wants to see.
The case is the suitcase type with the faux snakeskin paper. It's a little battered as you would expect for it's age, but it's sound and clean.

I'm asking £45 for this one, and it's a nice working machine and has a full set of tools in the Singer cardboard toolbox

Enjoy  :vintage:

First to go - Singer 99k hand crank
Serial number   EC566380
There's some yellowing/crazing to the varnish on this one, but it's clean and stable so I've left it original.
Case and tool box lid
Singer green cardboard toolbox with complete set of tools for this machine:
•   Narrow Hemmer
•    Binder
•    Gathering (Shirring) Foot
•    Quilt Foot
•    Ruffler
•    Tuck Marker
•    Underbraider
•   Adjustable Hemmer
•    Seam Guide with Screw
•   3 bobbins

No booklet - Helen Howes sells them or can be downloaded FREE from internet
Fitted with a genuine Singer light, on what Helen Howes has confirmed to me is an early Singer fitting - see pictures
Lovely stitch, have assembled a quilt top on this one  :loveit:

I tend to actually lay bits of stuff against it, or pin them on (if hanging) so as to actually see what difference it makes.
I find it hard to "see" otherwise.

What did you decide?
:)

There will be a hand-crank Singer 201K also :)

Each machine will get a write up here with photographs as they get sorted and described. Need to wok out which ones have which tools, and which ones have a booklet  :) Also need some decent pictures.

As usual I'm not looking for top dollar here, just to move them along to someone who would love one, if there is anyone here.

have lovely days everyone
Leila
