I have been going through all the things stored on my computer and deleting things I no longer want because it has been grindingly slow lately. I found that every time I have looked at images in posts on here, a copy has downloaded into my computer. Should it do that? How can I avoid it in future?

Yes, I think it's when its just a little picture and I click on the letters and numbers under it. I found them all under documents/downloads on my computer. They weren't in a folder I don't think.

Clicking on the text link will download the image. But clicking on the image itself will simply expand it for a better view.

Ah! Thank you - that answers it beautifully. My computer is never very quick so if nothing happens quickly enough clicking on one place, my limited patience has me clicking somewhere else. Another lesson learned!

Yes it is a bit slow to show. I'd like to rework the image attachment section at some point and make it look a bit better.

ETA: I've cleaned up the details that go along with an image to make it a bit more obvious that one is for download.
I've wanted to make this area look a little nicer for a while, so I may take it in bits and pieces and just make it work a bit nicer all round.
