Ok, clever peeps, who can point me in the direction of an embroidery file to stitch out a mandala type thing, about 100mm diameter? Anything around that size would work, and another maybe 50mm? It can't be a very dense design as I'll be stitching on C/L. Thanks!

Vintage Machines / Singer 359k
« on: March 11, 2021, 10:43:55 AM »
I have the chance to buy one for £25 but the owner says she can't thread the bobbin. It looks rather pretty, duck egg green, and apparently it powers up. I'm thinking either she can't make the bobbin winder work or that she doesn't know how to fit the bobbin properly. Would I be wasting my time?

Butterick 5624 and 3405. Both sizes NB-SML- MED which my notes show to be 0-3 month, 6 month and 12 month. I traced them, included are my traced pieces complete with my construction notes, modifications and scribbles! The sleeves from B5624 also fit B3405. Yours for the price of postage (large letter for one, I think I could send both large letter but need to check)
I'm not able to attach pics, am getting an error message,

Embroidery and Embellishment / Transferring files to embroidery machine
« on: November 21, 2020, 21:08:07 PM »
How do you all transfer bought embroidery files to your machine? I have an On-the-go cable for my phone, so I bought some files & plugged the USB connector of my cable into my machine. It isn't recognised, possibly because the Pfaff doesn't like memory sticks bigger than 1 or 2 Gb. Previously I've borrowed DH's laptop to unzip from my email, load into a folder then drag to a USB stick. But that's all old tech. I'm not up for upgrading my Pfaff yet, the wireless enabled Pfaff is about £8k.

Tech Know How / How can I edit thread title?
« on: April 12, 2020, 16:04:46 PM »
Apparently I have a 'fiary' . Thus is a real wind up to a teacher - how can I edit it? I can change it for individual posts using the edit function but can't see how to edit the thread title.

Does anyone has this pattern for sale? It's the cardigan pattern I'm after so could be interested in in a different cardigan pattern with ruffles.

Tech Know How / Subscription problem?
« on: January 26, 2020, 18:40:00 PM »
My subscription runs out today, but I have 'recurring payment' set up, so hopefully it will renew in the next 6 hours. My forum view has gone squiffy, maybe a coincidence? Has anyone else got problems? Forum pages look different, they're all jammed over to the LL eft of my screen so I have to rotate my phone & pinch to enlarge. This reply box is so small I can't see what I'm typing so apologies for any gobbledegook. Yes, I've tried closing the window & loading again several times. I'm on an Android phone.

Fun with Fabric / French Terry?
« on: December 08, 2019, 18:50:22 PM »
What's the difference between French Terry & jersey? Google says French Terry has a looped back, so I thought it would be good for toddler sweatshirt/hoodie, however I ordered some from eBay and it looks like poly jersey, thinner than I expected. No loopy back.

I found a pattern I like in a Burda magazine but it's a plus size one which starts at a continental 44. This translates as an 18, I need a 12/14. It has an inner and an outer layer with a twist at the shoulders which reveals the inner layer on the outside. It only has 3 pieces, I've traced it and I hope graded it down by 2 sizes, by measuring the increments, doubling then subtracting them. (After doing that I realise I need to add seam allowances too...) The bust dart looks a bit small, and low, and the whole thing still looks quite wide, though it's a loose fitting style. Has anyone any experience of adapting patterns in this way? The feature I like is the twist in the shoulders. I know I can toile it but I might spend time more wisely by using a shell top which I know fits and develop my own twist on the shoulders.
