A few weeks ago we won some fat quarters in an Easter raffle from our local sewing shop and so Little one then picked a few more to go with them and has started learning to sew.  This has been the first time She's had a go with a set up machine, in the past she's played with no needle or thread and I was very very nervous about this haha.

She chose the layout for the fabrics herself and with Mummy's help we made a patchwork cushion cover, She paid lots of attention and listened, sewed a few seams by herself and watched closely as sewed the zip in as well as helping a lot.  She was super pleased to discover how to change sewing direction and as soon as the cover was finished she found some scraps to practice on.

All the sewn things in the home - more items made by people on here than by myself have rubbed off on her I think (mugrug swaps are used as rugs in dollhouses as well as the lovely quilt and cushion covers)  :loveit:

Anyway I'm very pleased our first little project worked so well together and hopefully it will continue with her able to do more herself each time, and I'll be more active on here again.

Dolls and Toys / First doll sewing
« on: February 08, 2020, 19:31:03 PM »
So with my new role as busy mummy I soon discovered no chance of being able to sew myself clothes.  Then I discovered my list of quilts to make wasn’t making any progress.  Next to get dropped is the dress I cut out for little one that is still sitting on my sewing table since October not getting anywhere finished.  Though if I hurry it will still fit her but not for long.

So here’s a pic of the first finished sewn items I have managed to make since the autumnal mug rug swap.  I’ve already had to redo the plaits as the dog chewed them off!  Next up is a doll and a few outfits for it - fingers crossed.

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / BOM makes
« on: July 22, 2018, 15:44:16 PM »
Here’s some pics of what I’ve made using various BOM blocks so far.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  First thing I made was a lap quilt using July 2017’s shimmer block in nautical fabrics, followed by one using last October’s wreath block which I gave my parents for their Christmas present.

Hi, I'm new... / Hello

Hi,
Using the same username, glad to find Iminei's block of the month and will hopefully find time to catch up with the February and March ones soon.

I mainly make clothes and various projects for around the house but patchwork and quilting is something I admire and wish to improve on.  I also have become a collector of vintage and antique sewing machines.  I think there's 19 if I include my modern one, the overlocker and 4 toy machines.
