Oh the suspense was killin me.... like let me in already!!!
Finally have a new basic machine after numerous years separation(a generation) from my old one and the first item made was my av and yes, did everything the way I wasn't supposed to...like putting my pins in the wrong way to direction of sewing... so things are wonky but she still suits the purpose. Need to buy everything all over again but hey I'll have fun spending the OH's $$$$..oh wait... they're mine too... well I'll have fun anyway.,
I have many crafty interests all jostling for me time and about to be a Granna..everyone keep everything crossed...it's like...IMMINENT!!!! I'm a tad excited about this and for my DD and her hubs so please forgive my shouting hysteria.
Needless to say... there'll be bub things, me things, more bub things followed no doubt by toddler things. :D OMG!!!
Oh and hi!
-
Hello and welcome @sewminds . It sounds as if you have a very exciting time coming up. Wishing you lots of fun with your new baby even if it is basic and with your imminent grandchild 0_0
-
Hello @sewminds and welcome! Hope you have fun with your new machine and good luck with the arrival of the grand baby xx
-
Thanks for the welcome ..let's see if I do this right.. @Flobear ..ooo your name popped up!
Yes, not sure when we'll be allowed to see the GD. The hospitals here don't allow visitors now..at least at the one DD is attending... good old Covid. I know she'll be in for at least 5 days and we suggested they then had some alone time at home, getting to know each other and routines etc, before folk dropping by to say hi.
I wish we'd moved closer already but alas not to be just yet. They're a good 3-4 hour drive away so OH and I might have to take it in turns to visit because there's also 'pets'..le sigh. The cats would be ok but there's a young 25+kg 7 month pup that would wreak total chaos if left alone.
I'm on tenterhooks!

Hi @Nevis5 ! 0_0
I'm so nervous for them! I'm practically sitting on the phone waiting for another update!... no I don't have it set to vibrate...
-
Welcome @sewminds Exciting times ahead. I was a returnee to sewing after not doing much for 20 years, you may be surprised at how many new things are available now on which to spend your $$$ and we are very good enablers here
I love your chicken avatar.
-
Hello and welcome - we
like need to see pics of all your makes - and your puppy, there is a pets thread somewhere...
-
Welcome to TSP @sewminds. As @Ploshkin said there’s lots of new habby, notions and tools available now. Some are indispensable, some useful and others you just won’t need. But it’s fun finding what works for you.
I'm sure you’ll be busy with little things. An exciting time for you. I find little sleeves are ‘interesting' to sew. :)

Welcome @sewminds :drink: :cake:

Welcome @sewminds . You have exciting times ahead!
-
Hello and welcome!
-
Thank you @Ploshkin! Yes, rollers to cut with and self healing mats...what the hey?! And the politically incorrect fat quarters..like say waaaaat???? A whole new world of lingo to learn too.
Ahhh, she's the result of my 'only had $15 in the wallet when picking up the machine so dove into the scrap fabric basket for some small finds and purchased one grey thread to sew it together'. I'm glad I didn't use beads for the eyes. I can mix up the colour and placement of the pins to suit the mood I'm in. 0_0

@Bodgeitandscarper I'm guessing you mean sewing makes.. that will be a nice slooooow process.. there's just the chook so far! Hahaaa.
If we're talking the knit and crochet side.. probably easiest(less band with sucking for the group) to direct to my rav projects but would need group ok to do that.
My rocks and jewellery.....well, they're my other loves I'm getting back into but I seriously suck at taking photos of those. If the camera was able to take out a restraining order against me, it would've done it years ago.
Ahh the puppy..I'll see if I have some from the actual camera(not tried to remove from the phone before). Mind you, there's also the other pooch and kitties who'd feel left out so they'd have to get a look in too.

Question, with just quoting, will Flobear know the post is there or do I need to do the @ thingy as well?
-
You need to do the @thingy as well. @Flobear
-
Congratulations on your new arrival - all systems to go now! :toast: :toast: :sew: :vintage:
-
@sewminds Congratulations on becoming granny.
-
Such wonderful news for you, and so exciting. There is nothing as good as the smell of a baby's skin, and a baby snuggling into your neck.
-
@Pearl Thanks for the info.
-
@Catllar @fajita @charley
Thank you ever so much all of you!!!! :grouphug:
The hosp rules were 'eased' a touch last Wednesday when DSIL messaged and said can you come..she needs you.
So everything was dropped, things were wildly grabbed and shoved into an overnight bag so I could do the 3 1/2 hour drive to get there so I'd at least have one hour of visit time. The only folk meant to be there were the partner and one other nominated person which was her sister because I brought them up to be super close and the fact that she lived only 5 mins away.
So I did the mum things, console, do the multiple trips to the shops until the right size bra was obtained then back again to get more when sizing achieved..and feed my son who was looking after their house and pets and then DD had to droip around for some mum cooking as well.
Wind forward a few days and I'm finally home. Totally knackered yesterday so was a bit of a zombie and just now, finally getting back in the mood for chatting.
Oh and when I was picking up the most gorgeous bear in town, what was across the road??? Spotlight! So I just had to drop in there for a look and I have to admit, a metre of knit with gumnut babes just happened to be purchased. No idea on design yet but it should be enough to make her something.
Oh and the gorgeous addition is known as Zoe. <3 :loveit: <3 < totally biased of course. :D
-
Congratulations on your new arrival
-
Sounds like an exciting time in your life. Welcome to the world, Zoe
-
Congratulations! And - despite your exhaustion - it must be very nice to be needed so strongly at such a time! :)
-
Congratulations Granny @sewminds :toast:
-
Congratulations @sewminds :flower:
-
@Stitches @fajita @Acorn @Lilian @Silver Rose
thank you all!
OH has made it down for his visit.
We have some worries over the length of time with jaundice but bubs is putting on the weight well.
I hope my fears never come to fruition and that she grows into a strong healthy young woman.

MODS!!!
Still a LOT to learn in here!!!
Was just in that thread where you all talk about the days plans etc, went to join in with a reply to thread, clicked the button then thought hang on a minute...this is a Notify button...uh ohhhhh.
So sorry if that's been some form of report action, that was not my intent. :|
okay, I think I might have a gremlin in the works... the reply button is now there when it wasn't 5 mins ago. :S
-
No problem - the notify button (theoretically) means that you'll get an email when someone replies to the thread.
In practice notification emails very often get stopped at some point during their journey through the ether because some bit of the internet decides that they must be spam.
-
@Acorn Oh phew! Thank you!
