I know it as Cathedral Window. Variations abound. Yours is lovely.

@Iminei this block is stunning! I want to make it, and will try.  I am in the middle of a blouse atm and still have the Owl to make. :o) :vintage: :vintage: :vintage:

I've made a start on mine, and I really like it. It goes together very quickly.  :)

It's going to be the finishing off which will take time...deciding how to quilt it.

A really lovely block.

Not very...(not in the slightest) Autumnal in my colourway.  :)

Sorry the picture's a bit squiffy.

Enjoyed doing this one. Thank you, Iminei.

I've been thinking that you could also reverse the block ...

Use the patterned fabric as the background and a crisp white or old black for the interior ... might have a play with that later!

Sandra, those colours are just gorgeous and as for your quilting ......

Oh, Ploshkin... :|  I'm blushing now.. thank you.

I'm not a quilter. I'm ok bunging bits of fabric together. I think this is the first time I've tried to quilt a decorative shape/motif onto something.

I  :loveit: all your blocks @Sandra. You have a great eye for colour. (and your "non-quilting"!!!! is very neat and precise).  <3

think this is the first time I've tried to quilt a decorative shape/motif

and you succeeded brilliantly!!!!

Did you use your WF? of FMQ ???

You can do wonderful things with simple shapes and a WF!

A walking foot!? Lol  0_0
FMQ....Ha,ha,ha......

I don't have one. I've never tried using one and they're expensive to buy, aren't they? It'd be £99 for my old Bernina machine.  :o...(according to Jaycotts)
I can't justify spending that much money....how often would I use it? I'm not a quilter.  :P

After seeing how Iminei cut out a shape to stitch around...( Ah..that's how it's done)... I had a look through my patchwork books to find a shape suitable to fill the space...traced it off, and stitched around it.
It was actually a flower for applique, but it looked good, and filled the gap nicely.
I've got a few nice variegated threads stashed away...just in case.

Thanks, everyone for your comments.  :)  It's a lovely block, and ever so easy. Do try it. I'm sure you'll be surprised at how simple it is.

If this is the first time you've tried a decorative shape from a template @Sandra - you've done an amazing job. It looks lovely.  <3 I know what you mean about a walking foot for a Bernina being expensive - they're at least £100.  :S I was lucky - mine came with my machine and I love it, but if you're careful you can manage quite well without - you just need to go a bit slower, as I'm sure you know. My problem is keeping my lines of stitching straight (or curved, whichever) - they always seem to go their own way, no matter what I do. Never mind, I really want to try this block when I can.

It is an easy block yes. I didn't actually quilt it but did the stitching as if it was quilted.

I can get to my sewing machine again and so have started playing catch up again. I’ve not quilted this block but have done a bit of decorative stitching.

Finally... I'm more pleased with the block than the photograph.   -<  The thread I used for quilting is variegated - this one:

and it goes very well with the inside fabric, but the camera won't show the colour - I guess because it's rayon.  (And yes, it's machine embroidery thread, not quilting thread - I'll be hiding behind the sofa from the quilt police.)

Anyway, here is the block:

Yes, it was really nice to do - I thought the folding of the curves would be a pain, but it was just really pleasing - and very easy.

Wonder if there are any biscuits left...

@Acorn There's not many biscuits left because I snook into the HOF while @Iminei wasn't looking and ate a few.

Oh no! I'd hoped there would be a Garibaldi or two waiting for me. Got to get the school Xmas fair out of the way before anymore sewing. Its my first big event as pta treasurer so plenty of panic about if there are enough 50p's.

Really looking forward to trying this block.

Another one down. I might add some more another day but now it is 11pm and there are only 7 hours before a small person wakes me up.
This and the boat one had felt scary until I got going. Then I couldn't stop!
There can't be many left that I haven't done now.

Just like the biscuit tin at home. Nevermind I'm used to surviving on broken rich tea and the corners off custard creams.

I missed out on another jammie Dodger today - I was asked to go into school and help today. Not in the classroom, in forest school. Not only did I get cold and muddy but there were exactly the same number of biscuits as children.

Oh no!!! Jammie Dodgers ( closely followed by Garibaldis ) are the only biscuits worth fighting over  :ninja: @Iminei  or @Pearl will replenish our stock...... don't leave it to me or you'd never get any  :|
