Today... One thread per day / Re: Tuesday 11th May

@Sandra so sorry to hear this.  It’s hard on all the family.  I know my dad changed when he had dementia.

Started off nice today but now sat here watching the rain.  Did manage to have lunch outside.
Finally got our leaky shower in the caravan fixed today.  And managed to speak to the tv aerial man as he was on site.  He wasn’t sure which caravan was ours so couldn’t do it last weekend.  Should be done this Saturday !      We’re getting there!  Hoping for some nice weather over the next few days so we can get out.....somewhere!

Very late checking in today.  Been busy.
Batch cooked some stuff for the freezer.  Load of washing done and hung in the garage as it looked dodgy.   Packed stuff up to take to the caravan again tomorrow.

DH was out at bowls for a few hours so I could get things done.  This evening we went to the forest down the road to check out the bluebells.  Big carpets of them, lovely.    And had a walk down the old railway track.

@Acorn started when Pfaff and Husqvarna came under the same umbrella company.  Software is the same too.

@Bjay hope Mrbeej is ok and back soon.

Well mum is very pleased with her picture.  DH hung it up in her bedroom.  It’s replaced one I made for her several years ago.  Now we have to find somewhere else for that!
Of course, before that it had to be shown to the residents that were hanging round in the lounge.
There was music playing on the tv in the lounge and I didn’t realise what it was at first as I was answering all their questions.  Then I looked up to see Robert Plant on screen!  Very surreal, several people sat, some in their 90's, watching Led Zep.  But it was the choice of one considerably younger resident and he was putting a book case together.  So they said he called the shots.  Good choice I said.  But seemed very strange to hear it there.

Might give it a go next time i'm embroidering.

Cloudy but warmish here.  Have made a pan of vegetable soup as I had some veg that needed using up.  Found a homemade bean and veg roast in the freezer I didn’t know was there so that’s dinner tonight.    That will have some mushroom cream to go with it so it isn’t too dry.

Off to mum's this afternoon as it’s her 86th birthday.  I expect we'll sit outside for a chat.  I have homemade biscuits for her and amazingly I found some cellophane wrap to do them up in.  Usually when I want something like that we don’t have any.

Enjoy the warm day all.

I’ve got one of these, not used it yet.  But the magnets are quit strong  aren’t they?

Poured with rain most of the night till bout 10 this morning.  Now it’s just miserable, damp and blowy.   Won’t be going out today.

Changed the bedding and that’s washed and in the dryer.  Made a batch of plain biscuits and one of chocolate.  I shall pack some up for mum's birthday tomorrow.  Can’t get any enthusiasm up to do anything today.  But I did manage to finish mum's picture.  Not sure where she intends to put it as it is quite large.   The fabric for the border and backing is some faux suede type I got  from @sewmuchmore.  It’s not what I intended it for originally but has worked really well.

Need to think about dinner and then I might have a look through some fabric and see what I fancy making.

So hard to choose.  I’ve been back and forth so many times.     They are all lovely.

@justpottering hope all goes well today.  Barnstaple, we went there a few years ago whilst on holiday  because it was the 'biggest shopping centre nearby'.   It was easy to park but don’t think we stayed long.

@b15erk wow, can’t believe Lilya is 8.  Time flies.  She’ll love the bunting, very girly.

@Sandra I was  asked several years ago, when I was doing alterations , if I wanted to do work for a wedding shop.  I would have to go and pick the work up and drop it back to the shop.   Some very rude words came to mind but just said no.  I also had a call from P&O cruises as they needed someone to repair costumes etc.  Might have been interesting but it involved waiting for a call on the morning they docked and rushing down to do repairs before they sailed late afternoon.  Wasn’t really practical for me as it’s 45 minutes from the docks and I couldn’t drop everything at a minutes notice.  Of course you know when ships are coming in but not if you’re going to be needed.

Supposed to be sunny this morning but don’t think the weather knows that!   Washing on the line.
Have managed to get the back onto mum's picture. Thought of trying to sew it but in the end I have glued it as it was easier and quicker.  Need to embroider a label and it’s done!     then I thought I’d make her some biscuits to go with it as she’ll appreciate them.
Haven’t thought about dinner yet and I usually sort that in the morning.  Freezer is empty of made up meals as I took several to the caravan.  Need to have a cook up sometime next week.  So probably pasta tonight as I can’t be bothered with much.

Have a good Friday everyone.

Bit gloomy here.  Housework this morning but just a quick going over.  Have to go over to mum's in a few minutes.  DH has a space booked at the tip, lucky him.  I have to back mum,s picture this afternoon.  Will be glad to get it finished.

I don’t have any problem with distortion using shears. Depends how you use them. If you just use shears and chop away it probably would be a problem but I use my left hand to stabilise everything while cutting.
I do small clips for notches on some fabrics but anything expensive, delicate or liable to fray I’ll tack a mark.
