« on: August 21, 2019, 12:42:13 PM »
Are you ready for my latest  :o question?

When pre-washing new fabric, not got any  do you do this on it's own or bung it in with a laundry load? Does it matter?

Has anyone got a favourite online supplier of fat quarter's? I don't want polycotton but good quality cotton.

I like the look of Higgs & Higgs selection, but haven't found much more within the websites I know about

Your Favourite Suppliers / Buttons
« on: August 07, 2019, 16:50:16 PM »
Bought some buttons on fleabay from Mrs Arthur's Button Shop. Looked at the website direct and they're really cheap and very colourful. Only thing I will say is that they're very lightweight so might not appeal to everybody.

Your Favourite Suppliers / Kam Snaps
« on: July 10, 2019, 11:11:45 AM »
Has anyone used Kam Snaps? They've probably got other names too, they're the plastic press stud type thingies used a lot on babygrows and the like.

Can anyone recommend a good supplier/brand?

Patterns Discussion / Oooooo bitch!
« on: June 22, 2019, 10:27:53 AM »
Just received my weekly email from TATB where they're promoting their new pattern release with a photo of Tilly wearing the dress they've made from it. Well, I don't think I've ever seen such an ill-fitting dress as a promo ever  :S

It won't encourage me to purchase any of their patterns, has anybody used them with good results?

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Sewing chair
« on: May 25, 2019, 18:45:43 PM »
OH is feeling flush - and generous  :o - on the back of his redundancy payout and has offered to treat me to a li'l something for my sewing sanctuary. Having had a good ol think I've decided I could do with a decent chair, at the mo I'm sitting on a wooden dining chair with no cushioning, it's a devil on the buttocks after a long shift.

So, of course, I need guidance.....What do you use?

Fun with Fabric / Fabric search
« on: April 28, 2019, 19:15:13 PM »
The OH's sis-in-law has some ancient curtains in the front room that she loves but they're tatty and faded. She would like to replace them with something similar but has been unsuccessful in finding any.
Has anyone seen any curtains/fabric like them. They're a cream background with blue and brown butterfly flower combo pattern.

Fun with Fabric / Scraps ideas
« on: April 27, 2019, 16:02:21 PM »
I make a LOT of bias binding, use it endlessly, and every time I slice off the li'l triangles on the edges of the joins I think to myself "there must be a way of using these rather than chuckin em in t'bin".

But how?? They're too small for patchworking, or at least too small for my patience. Any ideas?  :sew:

In the wardrobe / My summer jacket
« on: April 26, 2019, 18:57:03 PM »
I made a loose jacket for summer, not sure what the fabric is it was donated to me by a friend, I reckon it's a linen blend.

The pattern is Burda easy number 8108 which I've had for ages but didn't fancy tackling as I thought there'd be loads of jiggery pokery involved to get a good fit. Well whaddayaknow, it is perfect as it is.

I love the simple style - me all over  :P - and I can pronounce it my new favourite  :loveit:  The pic shows the contrast fabric I used for the facing and the inside of the pockets, I won't be wearing it pinned back  :o

In the wardrobe / My snazzy new frock
« on: March 14, 2019, 14:56:25 PM »
A short while ago, my oldest most creative friend gave me an article from her newspaper showing outfits by a designer - can't remember - who had conjured up dresses using two different fabrics. We both liked. I really liked. So here's my version.

I have a pair of slouchy trousers made up in the grey polyester 'triangles' print, and plenty of the cotton lawn left over. More trousers?  ><

I appreciate it won't be to everybody's taste but, just like the sassy lady in the Jaguar, I don't always do popular choices.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
