Yes, I've got some and I think they're the bees' knees.  They were recommended on a Craftsy course, for plaids and stripes matching, but are useful for all sorts of fabrics.

I’ve just been browsing the Ditto fabrics site, which I think got a mention on here recently. I like jewel colours too and there were quite a few.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Burda patterns - good or bad?

Yes I like Burda for trousers too, I have a couple of patterns.  I have also got a Burda dress pattern to cut out; I was going to make it to wear over Christmas so I might leave it for now and start thinking about clothes for the warmer weather.

I either use ribbon, or a narrow strip of iron on interfacing.  I save the hanging ribbons from rtw tops to use as they're usually in the way and I cut them off straight away.  I haven't noticed a difference in the way garments hang with ribbon or interfacing so it's just what is handy at the time.

House Beautiful / Re: Cushion covers... how hard can they be??

Regarding the Moon fabric, I wanted mine to match front and back and as I had plenty of fabric it wasn’t a problem. I bought it at the Multiyork outlet shop in Warrington, which sadly has closed down before all the other stores.

In fact, I still have fabric left but can’t decide what to make. I have enough for lampshades but two things stop me doing them - one is the suspicion they wouldn’t let any light through and the other is that there would just be too much of the same fabric. Maybe a cover for the waste paper basket lol.

The name Moon caught my eye.  I've just made myself a Roman blind and a cushion cover in a Moon plaid and wanted the cushion to match the horizontal and vertical stripes on front and back.  A way round that is to use the Moon fabric for the front and a plain for the back.  Obviously I don't know if your fabric is tartan/plaid but just something worth considering as it's not cheap fabric.  Mine was actually a roll end from Multiyork so I didn't pay the full price.

In the wardrobe / Re: Is there a site to view all patterns?

The Foldline has a good search facility, and Habithat stock a wide range of patterns. One of the online fabric companies, possibly Dragonfly, have indie patterns.   This is just from memory, I’ve not looked at Habithat for a while.

The Alex is matte white.  Going to have a look at those hacks although I have been looking already on Pinterest.

Have a look at the Alex desks too.  I've just bought two Alex pieces for my sewing room and am happily filling them at the moment.

The fit looks good.  They look similar to some I've made with a Burda pattern, lightweight fabric from stash, from Immanuels in Burnley a few years ago.

The Burda ones don't have a seam down the back though, and in wanting to get them finished quickly I managed to put the zip at the rh side rather than the left and it'll confuse me every time I start putting them on, I suspect.  :o

Don't panic! Just stab stitch through all the layers, under each ring, and all should be well.  :thread:

Hi, I'm new... / Hi Everyone
« on: March 01, 2017, 15:27:17 PM »
Hello again!  I'm another one who used to be on TSF and I'm very pleased to find this forum.

I'm currently making myself an Itch to Stitch Marbella dress as there's been more time for sewing in the last few weeks, as I've not been spending quite so much time online.

I'm looking forward to having a good look round here.
