Today... One thread per day / Re: Todays Twins Birthday
« on: Yesterday at 09:57:34 »
Happy birthday @Catllar and @Mick! Hope you both have something to celebrate with.  :VV: :VV:

Bin collection day for us as well @Iminei! Raining when we got up but now a bit of sun and black cloud looming so a bit of a mixed bag I'm guessing.

My friend is coming over late this afternoon and the 2 of us are going out for tea and a catch up so looking forward to that.

The news sounds good @Catllar so fingers crossed . Good luck with your househunting as well. I'm starting to think much the same about a move, the whole house needs sorting including a kitchen and bathroom re fit and I wonder if it's worth it. I don't love the house but we love the garden which isn't huge but larger than we'd get with a new build (I'd love all new) but wonder about garden upkeep as we get older and maybe less inclined. All the building work that is going on in our street (4 out of 13 houses) is really making me think, next door are into week 10 now.

Good news about your result @WildAtlanticWay!

Congratulations on your anniversary @Nevis5  :VV:

Today... One thread per day / Re: Wakey Wakey ... its a New week Monday 20th

First fog of the autumn here this morning but it's all burnt off now. Finally got my paperwork finished Friday afternoon so I need to get it to the accountant. A huge weight shifted!

Builders now in their 10th week next door, they are doing all the sawing/grinding etc on the front drive so the dust is still horrendous even with the windows closed. I booked my carpet cleaner for 29th at least a month ago never thinking they would still be here (4 weeks the neighbour told us) and I'm wondering if I should postpone. He's really busy though and I want to get it done. Their skip was emptied this morning and I thought 'beginning of the end' but another one has arrived.  :scream:

Usual Monday stuff and I've a huge pile of ironing so I guess I'd better get started!

Have good days all!

Lovely sunshine this morning, was expecting rain but that happened overnight. The garage chest freezer has been defrosted and just waiting for it to finish re freezing then the re-load. It was more than half empty so all bits went in to freezer boxes and kitchen freezer. :)

Porch/cloaks cupboard was on the list to be done but not sure if that will happen, we'll see. 2 lots of washing done so maybe it can wait until tomorrow.

Yesterday I packed away some 'very' summery clothes and sandals and sorted a few things for autumn wear.

'Scooped' the crotch on a pair of RTW black trousers that I could just feel. So a new pair to wear.

I have another pair (self made) that need almost remaking, so a reminder to self to unpick black while the light is still good rather than on a dark grey day.........

Enjoy the rest of your days everyone!

Another suggestion @SewRuthieSews. Have you thought about making up outfits including shoes, bag and outerwear (even if you probably won't need it)? Maybe allow 2 tops for each bottom and 2 options of footwear but don't keep if just 'okay'. If something doesn't work ditch it.

This is something I've done this spring/summer. I've found I've worn fewer clothes (and found out what doesn't really 'go' with anything at all!) but many more on rotation than I've done in the past.  I've felt happier knowing if I wear said skirt/pants which tops go well and don't get fed up deciding what to wear. I'm going to have a good sort as I put away very summer clothing and shoes. I have too many 'oddments'. I'm going to try it for summer/autumn and then autumn/winter.

I'm hoping to end up with fewer clothes!

I can imagine you're in a dilemma @SewRuthieSews. I find shoes and boots the hardest to sort. I'd toss any you no longer like but hold on to any that you do and would be hard to replace if you needed to. Maybe hold for a year to take you through all seasons in your new settings. I need to do a sort myself!

Love the look of your machine @annieeg! I think they were smaller then, and the sound is quite different from modern models.

Bonjour mes amis, comment ca va?

Grey in these parts this morning. O/H just back from dentist after a filling so feeling a bit yucky.

Fixed 2 snags on a fine knit top I had on yesterday, must have been the velcro from hairdressers gown. Thank goodness for those 'fix a snag' things!

The paperwork still awaits so may get to it this afternoon. I feel like I want to pack away my sandals for this year and sort out some other shoes.

Enjoy your days!
