I always use it felt side down.

I've had 2 coverings over probably 25 years, I think I needed a larger one for the extended table, and the first one was not rubbery at all. After a while it did crack but it wouldn't have left any marks on the table. I'm guessing you can only get the 'rubbery' feel one now.

Just to add any offcuts from the bulgomme make good mats, cut to size, for indoor plant holders that otherwise would scatch a windowsill.

I use Bulgomme, there are various suggestions in the link below. I have a full table one (shaped as the table is oval) that I use under a tablecloth whenever we use the table and I have a smaller rectangle when I'm just using my coverstitch machine or my main one if I need it downstairs.

As @Silver Rose says it's good to be able to just move the machine a little bit if you need to.

I can remember having the brown type that @fajita has on our table at home as a child. The bulgomme is less bulky and rolls up when not in use.

I voted for a bit of both.

Sewalongs and Competitions / Re: Ideas for 2024 contests?
« on: December 21, 2023, 13:22:11 PM »
Not sure if this would fit into this thread @SewRuthieSews but I was tempted to suggest it as a 'sewalong' in the summer after seeing it on the Instagram Sewover50 account as one of their sewalongs. I think it was for the month of June and the topic was 'Sew what you need for June' (subsitute any month).  It could be knitting as well.

It could be anything, as maybe you are going away and need T shirts or shorts, or maybe there's a wedding or something that you need a posh frock or jacket for, maybe a bag for a trip somewhere?

Just a thought and maybe it could run every month or every other month whichever works best.

Did you make the SA Palazzo pants @WildAtlanticWay? I'd agree with @Ohsewsimple that it must be the grain. I've made 3 pairs and not had a twisting issue. I've had to alter elastic (used a different type so fit wasn't the same) but that didn't change anything else.

They aren't too long in the crotch or too high waisted are they? Maybe turning the elastic over just to see how they hang may help.

I cut out a pair of dark brown ponte Style Arc's Sailor Sue palazzo pants this afternoon. There was just enought light to see what I was doing properly. Not sure when I'll get to sew them up but I'm ready to go when the mood takes me.

It's really hard to let go of things isn't it. I always having this feeling that I may need it when it's too late! I also think if you have changeable lifestyle you are more likely to hold on to things you really should let go.

I too need some inspiration this season! Think its because I wore lighter 'winter' stuff in summer with the cool weather we had.

I've always liked to have a black coat as it covers a multitude of sins and seems to pull together most outfits. I don't go for a black dress for funerals (seem to be much more non black these days) and usually go for trousers and blouse with a long cardi or a sweater. I like to update my black shoes every now and then too,  and have a smaller bag than I usually carry.
