Just LOVE the Celeste dress pattern but cannot bear the thought of printing and taping up all those pages :scream:
CLC Essex print A0 for £1.50 per page. Revolutionary!

The Haberdashery / Is Swedish tracing paper worth it?

Hi all. I'd love to know what seasoned sewists think of Swedish tracing paper. Is it worth the extra cost?

@Bodgeitandscarper How did you go about making the pattern please? I am trying to do the same thing. I have an existing version in the right size. Thanks

Sewing Machines / Best sewing machine for bag making
« on: January 24, 2021, 22:20:56 PM »
Hi all. What are your recommendations for machines for bag making? A friend is looking at a Necchi Q321a but the few comments on here seem to suggest Necchi isn't the best. She already has a Singer quilting machine. Thanks

Embroidery and Embellishment / How to Hot Fix / add rhinestones
« on: December 06, 2020, 21:22:18 PM »
Hi all. I haven't been on for ages but I just knew you guys were the best to ask for this. I can't find a Christmas jumper I like and I want a good bit of bling this year so I'm thinking of adding my own rhinestones to a ready made jumper from M&S (Cashmillon type). What's the best way to do this without spending a fortune? I'm thinking maybe ready made iron on appliques like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Christmas-Tree-Snowflake-Crystal-Christmas-Festive-iron-Hotfix-Applique-/401013259115?var=&hash=item9c1f6a7860 and maybe scattered single rhinestones in between? Will those appliques work on 100% man-made fabrics with a domestic iron? What type of gem applicator should I look for, to add scattered stones? Glue or hot fix?

Thanks

There's an intro offer of 6 issues for £9.99 but I don't want to subscribe if it's no good.
Thanks

Sewing Machines / Re: Machine shredding thread and skipping stitches
« on: March 23, 2020, 19:39:25 PM »
Can't work out how to reply to individual posts. I've tried different types of threads. How would I get to the rear tension disks? I've tried taking the side off and giving it a clean. It doesn't sound very smooth when I turn the handwheel unthreaded.

Sewing Machines / Machine shredding thread and skipping stitches
« on: March 22, 2020, 22:04:09 PM »
My Janome is skipping stitches and shredding the top thread. I've given it a good clean, unthreaded and rethreaded but no joy. Any ideas what else I can try or does it need a service? Thanks
