A Good Yarn / Re: AUTUMN SOCK KNIT ALONG. 2023 New
« on: April 03, 2024, 18:31:56 PM »
Well after what seems forever I have finally finished a pair of socks for DH.  They aren’t great and they were a PITA to do.  But they might keep DH's feet warm.
I used Winwickmum's site but found it awkward.  I need specific instructions and found hers were a bit woolly (no pun intended) unless making the one size in her pattern.
I bought the kindle version of the book that @Deafoldbat recommended.  So I will give another pattern a go sometime.  But back to my comfort zone and sewing first I think.   :)

No sewing this week.  I’ve been knitting socks.

I like both of those @sewmuchmore.  Not quite what I was imagining.  The resulting fabric looks quite substantial and stable.

@Helen M i also use very lightweight interfacing on the shoulders. But I have been known not to use anything on some garments and there really wasn’t a problem after it was overlocked.

@HenriettaMaria I saw a machine that had had olive oil used inside!   Jeez that was a mess!

What a beautiful collection @Sheilago.  I really like the sage green cardigan.  Just a bit different.

Well done @Bodgeitandscarper.  I get myself in a right mess trying to work that sort of thing out.

Technical Help / Re: do I need to lengthen the back bodice?

Thank you so much!  I am going to tell my husband that he has to stay home and nearby when I am sewing so he can snap pictures.   This pattern has 3/8" seams so I will make them larger.  Drawing the bustline and center front and back is a great idea!  I did not think of that.  Thank you.

  Oh I’m sure he will!  But you can use a phone and a support of some kind.  I find phones or an iPad are invaluable for fitting. I can go back and look and zoom in as well.

For the lines, make sure you draw ALL of them on.  It takes a bit of time but it is so worth it. The horizontal lines should be at right angles to the CF or CB.  The lines on the garment should be perfectly horizontal on the body.  If not that tells us where the problem lies.
