Patterns Discussion / Re: simple make for new baby
« on: September 26, 2019, 15:21:48 PM »
I often do this

Its quick to make up and is very useful as a wrap etc.

Alternatively bandana bibs or one of those fabric boxes everyone seems to be making for bits and bobs.

Welcome from me too @Carillion.

You will find lots of knowledgeable people here who always give their time to help but beware THE ENABLERS, it’s amazing what you discover you can’t live without  :D :ninja:

Sewing Machines / Re: How many machines do you have?
« on: September 03, 2019, 17:22:54 PM »
I had a bit of an inadvertent clear out last year so now I have

Janome 8900, my big girl, fortunately my sewing class offers Janomes and Berninas.

A Babylock  Evolve bought S/H, it’s a combo O/L and C/S and I thought that would do me but I saw a Babylock Imagine for a wonderful price and so the Evolve is just used as a coverstitch.

I am looking for a good solid mechanical that the grandkids can use.

Events / Sew Up North
« on: September 02, 2019, 23:06:27 PM »
Has anyone else been to one of the previous Sew Up North events?

I’ve never managed to go before but this year I’ve got a ticket and am determined not to have to cancel.

Can’t beat a day out that’s all about sewing but I am a bit worried it’s going to be populated by trendy young things that are all about blogging and Instagram.

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: They've Gone
« on: August 30, 2019, 13:32:17 PM »
As I've said before, I have all my completed quilts packed away in a box on a shelf in my sewing room. They never see the light of day and have not been looked at since being used as packaging when we moved.
Today I bit the bullet..... I took them to the Oxfam textile recycling bin  :S
I need the box as it's ideal for storing sheets to be used as quilt backing. We are updating our linen and there are some barely used duvet covers, and curtains which can be stored there.
I was a bit nostalgic when I looked at the quilts but....  it had to be done.
I only have one quilt now...I only keep it because my d.i.I bought me the jelly roll it's made from for my70th birthday  <3
Brave, aren't I?  :D

Wow @Lowena you are brave but at least you now you have space to make more!

Haven't decided yet...feeling some people would rather I say it out. When's the deadline?

@Lowena why on earth should you think some people don’t want you to take part?

I really fancied the pin cushion idea.

@snoozi soozi that’s lovely. I do love bold colour choices, wish I was brave enough to go for them myself.
