Well there is hope that I might get to make something this year - the youth dance group that I volunteer for is doing outdoor site specific dance performances.  They just need the sites.

DD2 came home for lunch to me watching a Christmas movie while putting snow on pink Christmas houses.  Village is complete now.  Christmas plate just needs some more silver drybrushing and then a few light coats of gloss sealer.  I'm taking it to Sister#3 when I take DD2 to the airport.

wrenkins, it's a great visual but that's bad.  It has to be a problem with the manufacturing.  Actually, I have attached iron-on interfacing to a knit - very carefully.  So, I have technically ironed some.  If the cut pieces roll, you could try double sided washaway tape to hold them together when you sew.  I've made a set of dance costumes with a striped knit with the structural integrity of wet tissue.  If I looked at it, it shifted out of alignment.  I had to lay it out crosswise because if the stripes were horizontal, they looked like a patch-eyed drunken pirate had cut it out on a ship in a hurricane.

Confession time:  I've never ironed a knit.  Spandex does not like heat.  It will do stupid things if you heat it too much.

wrenkins, stretch fabric can sense fear.  Just approach calmly and handle gently but firmly.  Kind of like a puppy.

I'm getting out the spray sealer and coating the mini pink Christmas village.  Then I can add the fake snow and it will be done.  Then, it's finding the navy acrylic paint to cover over a Christmas plate that my mom started.  I have no problem repainting it - if she had liked her results, she would have finished it.  After a new basecoat, I'll drybrush it in silver and spray finish it for sister#3.  More astonishing is that I know exactly where the plate is in the destruction zone that masquerades as my sewing room.

I have a pile of these pants that came with every pajama pattern I've ever bought (and paid less for the entire pattern than what she wants for just the pants).  This pattern is cheaper and more interestingTofino.

Thank you, datcat - I was starting to think about Christmas stuff but thought I was too early.  It's usually Christmas in July but I have a few ceramic things that need spray sealing.  The weather needs to be good to do that outside.

I think after all that has happened we need something to look forward to - Christmas or Hanukkah or the winter holiday that you personally celebrate fits that description.  I'm looking forward to something that I recognise as normal.

I've got swimsuits on the brain now.  It sent me over to the Jalie website to check out what is new.  I am restraining myself but I did make a list.  It's not like I don't have a pile of swimsuit and activewear patterns.  I'm trying to remain strong but new patterns are so tempting.

In case you haven't checked out the sewalong & competition section, June is activewear and swimwear.  With all the performances on hold, maybe it's time to dig into our stretch stash.  I probably won't make DD1 and her boyfriend matching workout outfits - eventhough I did threaten/promise.

I suggest more of what you've been doing - lounging by the pool followed by dinner and drinks.  You've more than earned a rest from costume chaos.  I'm sure after the virus is vanquished that you'll be able to return to all joys of costuming:
- the forgotten dancer (it's just one more - you can magically create more fabric),
- no current measurements (I wear a size 8, why do you need measurements?),
- letting out old costumes (you have more of that fabric from 8 years ago, right?),
- the expert who doesn't sew but wants to tell you how to do it (it's really very simple, you just...)

I think that I need a drink and a rest now.

Well, the tour has been cancelled - but I'll finish making them.  This choreography is in their rep now.  They'll take the stage someday.
