Would anyone be interested in a lovely Singer 411g with all cams, in a cabinet? Electric and treadle as well? It was serviced some years ago and not used since.
I can post pictures if anyone would be interested in buying this? It's a beauty, but common sense has to prevail :'(

Oh, I wish too! The 411g is a great machine and a complete example like yours is very covetable.

Electric and treadle? Those are rare, I have seen one or two cases with a late treadle cabinet. I can't remember if they were both electric and threadle or just treadle. I guess there were a few indivudals who new the advantages of a trealde as late as up until 1960 and still ordered one brand new.

Here we go, please excuse the mess :) If memory serves me correctly, I think the cabinet has a label dated 1965! It is a beauty, I have no idea what the value is :(

These slant-o-matic machines all fetch good prices on eBay, but the 411g and 431g are rarer than the 401g. 411 and 431 do chainstitch, 431 is the free-arm version. I watched for all of these last year before I bagged my 401g.
The treadle cabinet is interesting too. All the machines are designed to accept a treadle belt, but I don't suppose many actually used it.

Oh dear, I can't keep more than one :'( which do you think is best, the 201k or this? So difficult knowing what to do - I have a vintage Sphinx treadle in a cabinet I have to keep because it has huge sentimental value to me - so either the 411g or my 201k in a table has to go :'( plus the hand cranks. It's heartbreaking!

That's an impossible choice. A threadle 411 is very attractive, the job is to find the perspn who knows and cares about this kind of thing. The machine I use the most is my 201K, a flat bed in a small table makes it even more hand with some types of jobs. It's a favorite and I haven't found any nicer machine to work on. I have to have a freearm model, two machines are a minium. I would keep these two regarless, and my 99K. I don't know how you think about it. Is you Sphix a 27 or 15? I think they both should turn fine for many types of jobs. If there's a machine I never use I would easily let someone else have it. For gems like this, make sure they go to a good home.

I guess for me I'd have to think about the kind of sewing I do, and which machine from the sable would be the best for all those things. Do you dress-make? Quilt? Free machine embroidery? Which machine covers all that you do?
