Patterns Discussion / Re: Wild Ginger Software Pattern Master
« on: November 02, 2020, 23:07:00 PM »
Sad to say that I just discovered that the Wild Ginger User Forum on their website has been removed due to lack of interest.
Users can still engage in conversations on their Facebook Page and the WG Users FB Page.
I did notice that the WG WIKI Library is still on their website and hopefully, users can still email in their help requests to support.

Great to see that this site is still as busy as ever!!

Wow @renita!!! Absolutely wonderful collection that you have created - you should be very proud. Congratulations on your photo shoot too. I can understand how tedious it was but we all appreciate it. So much better to see all the garments on the "wearer". I am in awe!!

@sewmuchmore

I think your skirt looks great! Congratulations on matching the fabric where you could. I really like the exposed zipper - it's not something that I've ever done so I am in awe!!

Technical Help / Re: Holes caused by jeans
« on: October 17, 2018, 21:31:18 PM »
I had little holes appear in one of my newt-shirts when wearing jeans. I found that it was from my tummy rubbing on the kitchen bench when I was doing food prep.

Welcome @Susieg from me too!! I have been retired for about five years now and there's still not enough time for me to get done all the sewing I want to...... AND my stash!! I wish I hadn't put so much aside for my retirement because it's such fun to buy new fabric isn't it!!

I am sure you will have fun here!

@annieg

An update for you. My friend bought the Jeans pattern yesterday. Luckily, before she stuck the pattern pieces together, she discovered that she should have purchased the basic pants pattern. From this, she will make her sloper, mark the Horizontal Balance Lines, insert a zipper and take photos and get fitting advice if required. Only then, once she has the fit right will she go on to make up the Jeans.

I have used both PMB and PMK for thirteen years. I love it!!

A friend of mine is currently considering the purchase and she has decided to start off by buying one of their ePatterns and see what sort of fit she gets. This includes the free Pattern Viewer download that you will need to work with the pattern.

You can also download the Free Trial from their website and have a play. The only thing you can't do using the free trial is to print out a pattern. So for that reason alone, I suggest you also purchase an ePattern. This enables you to type in your measurements, get assistance for taking measurements and fitting by email and printing out your pattern.

You can also participate in their user forum - there is lots of historical information there although not many people actively asking questions these days.

NAYY but I had a snoop around on their website last night to be able to engage in discussion with my friend.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Help me identify this

Is it "washaway" by any chance? Snip off a sliver and put it in hot water and see if it melts away....

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: tweezers for overlocker/serger
« on: September 24, 2018, 22:54:19 PM »
I have always struggled with mine...but then after watching Mr King's zip method using forceps, I got some from eBay, and they are BRILLIANT for using with the overlocker as they don't slip and you don't have to strain your grip squeezing them.  The bomb.

Thanks for the tip DF. I bought two pair of forceps for the same reason - haven't done the invisible zipper thing yet but they will be very useful next time I have to thread the O/L from scratch.

Technical Help / Re: Leggings fabric?
« on: August 28, 2018, 08:02:23 AM »
I've made tights from cotton Lycra which has four-way stretch plus a cut on elastic waistband. The only problem with this fabric is that unless the fabric in your top is heavy enough, it will cling to the bottoms.

I have purchased jeggings which are made from a lightweight denim which is bonded to a webbed fabric. Unfortunately, I've never seen this fabric to buy.
