@mudcat I remember really enjoying SWAP using your rules.  I didn’t quite finish but almost did - and I wore all the things ‘I made  :)

It’s good to see some machine knitting people here.  I just recently got a standard brother machine and a bulky machine and am slowly learning how to use them.

Love the socks @Starryfish .  I bought some West Yorkshire Spinners wool - seeing your pair is giving me the push to get a move on with it.  I think I got as far as the ribbing but then put it down somewhere…but where?  I’ve been on a tidying/reorganising crusade in my sewing room so keep temporarily losing things  :D

So I’ve finally taken photos of the hats.  The chunky one is really quick to knit up and the Fair Isle one was good for using up bits and bobs of yarns.

@toileandtrouble - the wool changes colour throughout and there is a pattern on the front side of the sock.  It’s great because it’s very easy (every 4th row the front side is knitted as a 1:1 rib ) and gives a lovely textured effect.

The pattern is Mina Philips’s Pebble socks.  The pattern uses The German short heel method and I found that a better method for me than the one I used on my practise version using Aran wool, where I picked up stitches.

@realale you can’t be as slow a knitter as me and I’ve now finished, so yours won’t be too long.

Not sure every part of my Kitchener stitch was right but they are stitched together now and very comfy and warm.

The knitting is finished on my first socks so now the pattern says I need to finish them by using kitchener stitch - so I'm off to YouTube to find some instructions :)

I’ve used this - https://fabricland.co.uk/product/craft-weight-sew-in-interfacing-vilene-code-240/

It would be horrible stuff to use for anything else as it is really stiff.

That’s great you got some @Pearl - I was worried it might be gone if you didn’t see this message for a while.

I like the idea of plain cuffs, heels etc, do you have a specific pattern or will you just change a pattern (asking as I’m a sock novice and tempted by the idea) :)

@Pearl - at the time of writing this there are 5 balls of peacock available here https://thefoundryworks.co.uk/shop/yarn/west-yorkshire-spinners-signature-4ply

Hopefully they will still have some when you look.  I have bought some of the Robin colourway

I am still knitting my first socks - I haven’t had much time lately but they are coming on well and I’ve got the bug and have bought yarn for 2 more pairs.  Will put photo up when they are finished .  I’m knitting the pebble socks by Mina Philipp.

Sorry you are not feeling well @b15erk - hope you are on the mend soon.

I will join in too - there are some lovely hats here already.  That wool is really pretty @Acorn  :)

This evening I knitted the second heel on the socks.

I had to unpick my first attempt at the first heel so I’m really pleased that I’ve now got them both done and I can move on to knitting the foot.  The first part of the German short rows heel method went really well - it’s the second part that I have found more tricky and messed up the first time.

Go for it @Lowena .  I’m not a very accomplished or quick knitter, I’m just stubborn and decided that it’s ok if my first attempt isn’t great or if I have to unpick and do a bit again.

I used to knit years ago alongside a neighbour who was always helping me out and gave me the confidence to knit all sorts of things with her assistance.   Recently I picked it up again but had lost confidence so started with scarves and then I did some fingerless gloves to have a go at shaping and now I’m up for trying anything but just cutting myself some slack.  Go on, you might love it - I find it great for winding down and staying away from screens in the evenings.
