In the wardrobe / Men’s pyjamas
« on: February 25, 2024, 09:30:13 AM »
I am looking to make a pyjama top for my Son, he think he wants a brushed cotton but he doesn’t want buttons, I am a bit unsure what sort of pattern to use, most of the ones without buttons are for stretch fabric.

Does anyone have any ideas

Can I use a tee shirt pattern but just bigger or will it be uncomfortable, he does want long sleeves

I bought these last week for the same kind of reason https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CG9Y7JVV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. They are really nice and good quality

In my part of the south even if you are happy to drive there really is nothing much unless you are happy to go into London, that works out pretty expensive so I have found ether an exhibition if you are lucky or buy on line and take a chance.

I have had some lovely bargains from https://poundfabrics.co.uk/   Might just go and have another look

@WildAtlanticWay that was the other one I was looking at in the shop but it was a step too far what I need at the moment. Great machine though.

I was told by one dealer that the 3 series is being discontinued wether it’s true or not I don’t know but they are the only remaining CB hook machines in the range.

Here she is unpacked and ready to go, one day when I have tidied a bit I will show you my tiny sewing room.

At the moment she sits opposite the HD9 and she is small enough for me to move out of the way when I want to use the table for cutting small items etc.

I decided in the end to go with the small Bernina as I loved my old one so much and only let it go when I bought the 570,  luckily enough I still have extra feet and the fancy foot control for it. I do need to buy some more bobbin though as I completely forgot I would need them.

Off to play with it now

Welcome @Clduk to a great forum.

I am beginning to wish I live up north as they say round here  you seem to have way more bricks and mortar stores.

@Morgan   good gracious I had one of the originals and loved it, doesn’t look as if it’s available to buy anywhere

That’s another interesting subject thread cutters and needle threaders, they vary so much from machine to machine and price doesn’t always come into it.

@WildAtlanticWay and @Bill i have been rewatching the sewing bee too and must admit the latest couple of series they seem to have had less trouble with machines.

Last night I watched the one with the 1960s machines and that was really fun.

Thank you everyone for your help I am now still confused.  ::thinks:: I think I would like to buy one of each or at least borrow them and then decide.

No @Iminei. I only have 2, my straight stitch and the embroidery machine, my problem with the Bernina was it was too big and heavy and it also made me feel like I should use it all the time instead of my beloved Janome HD9.

I just need a small machine for the occasional zigzag button hole etc and also would like to be able to move it around the house etc.

I have had a lovely time looking at all these machines, I am beginning to come down on the side of Janome,

has anyone seen this machine https://www.franklinsgroup.com/product/janome-sewist-780dc/. This seems a really good price and it is not too heavy.
