Hi,
I'm a reasonably experienced dressmaker, and would like to try quilting.
Can anyone suggest a kit which would be suitable for a beginner quilter?
Would be grateful for any advice the Forum can offer.
:woof:

You could try this, from The Grand Poohbah of The Dark Side
(Otherwise known as @Iminei in the patchwork and quilting section)

Thanks so much for the referral - I checked out Imenei's tutorial and its really excellent.
I may well try it..
Am off to a quilting workshop on 23rd June which hopefully will build up my confidence to try my hand at quilting.

Are you, Anniegg (as you will forever now be known), asking for an equipment list rather than a project ?
Although the Cot quilt is an excellent start very easy to piece and easy to quilt (not too much to stuff under the harp) Just ignore the actual quilting at the end, I got carried away with myself ..
Simple crosses corner to corner through the blocks are easy to do, will hold the three layers together and have a pleasing look to the eye.
We have a BOM running this year and last years tuts are also available if you just want to practice different techniques.
Oh and @Fajita .. Grand Poobah my arse !!!! ... :P

Hi,
I am annieg (but happy to be Anniegg (as my 84 year old neighbour calls me (don't ask.....)).
Is a BOM otherwise known as a "bill of materials"?
Where do I start in finding out?

hi @annieg - BOM is Block of the Month (I think the less said about bills and materials the better when it comes to fabric stashes).
This year's BOM can be found here (2018 link (https://thesewingplace.org.uk/index.php/board,71.0.html)) and last year's BOM here (2017 link (https://thesewingplace.org.uk/index.php/board,14.0.html)).
