Vintage Machines / Help with 201k singer machine

 My son is 12 and owns a 201k electric singer. He went to use it the other day and the thread was all loose on the underneath of the fabric and kept jamming. Can anyone advise what settings need to be changed? The fabric he's using is a medium weight cotton. The machine was serviced last year. I think I may have changed some of the settings when using the gathering foot. Please help, thank you x

Hi, is anyone working on crocheted or knitted projects that have been abandoned? I've been tidying my studio, found a lot of crochet projects that I've started, so I'm making it my mission to finish them.

This week I've been working on completing a deer that I started 3 years ago, which is so embarrassing. It was meant to be a Christmas present for my son; the deer had a head and body and 2 different sized front legs.

After nearly a week of working on it, It now only needs 2 hind legs. I've made everything else and constructed it (the ears and tail had 2 elements, outer and inner; there were also 6 body markings and eye markings to make). I'm going to attach the front legs when I've made the hind legs.   I aim to finish it today. It has made me more determined to finish other projects. There will be a huge amount of satisfaction when I finish it.

Hi, I'm a newbie and came across this forum accidentally (glad I did) because of the above machine.  The post was from April last year, so quite old, and there were a few messages about the machine.  It's an unusual machine because it has an overlocker on one side and sewing machine on the other.

I have one which my grandad bought for me in 1990 for my A' level textiles.  It's a brilliant machine and still going strong.  When I left Uni, I was self-employed and  I used it nearly every day for the business and it never let me down.  It was only a few years ago that something in the foot pedal went (wear and tear); the part was replaced and it still works.  Someone mentioned that it must have been expensive; from what I remember, it was £500.  I will never sell it.  If anyone wants any more info, I'll gladly help.   :)

Hi, I was so excited to discover this forum - absolute heaven.  I'm a self-employed textile artist and work mainly with free-motion embroidery.  I'm also a weaver and work on my tapestries in the evenings while watching tv.  I have a passion for vintage sewing machines and knitting machines; my husband always gives me that 'you've got enough sewing machines' look if I find one in a charity shop. 
I'm looking forward to joining in with the conversations.  Thank you   :vintage:
