Sewing Machines / Re: Husqvarna Mega Quilter

It's a high shank, but it seems to be relevant that it's a straight stitch only machine, and also high speed.

Sewing Machines / Re: Husqvarna Mega Quilter

Aaagh!
I want to get a walking foot for my Megaquilter. I found what I think is the correct foot on the Sew Essential website, labelled as being for the Janome 1600P QC. I contacted them to check before ordering it, and they replied that you cannot put a Janome foot on a Husqvarna machine because feet are never interchangeable between brands, that Viking has confirmed this, and that feet are no longer made for the Megaquilter.
Well, my 1/4 in foot is branded Janome, and, as I understand it, the Janome1600P QC and the Husqvarna Megaquilter (and the Pfaff Grand Quilter) are identical machines, made in the same factory at the same time with only a few cosmetic differences.
Can someone just back me up on this while I go looking elsewhere for a Janome 1600P QC walking foot?

You can't, I'm afraid - no attachments with PMs. You can either copy and paste the contents or use a file sharing app and send the link.

In the wardrobe / Re: Taking a trip with knit

I have a coverstitcher. I don't use it a lot, and mainly bought it because my other machines tunnel terribly when I try doing a twin needle hem. I'm glad to have it, but wouldn't call it necessary by any means, and if your normal machine behaves with a twin needle there's very little need for one.
Mind you, I'm sure it does lots of exciting things that I haven't discovered yet - I seem to remember someone (Efemera?) doing some beautiful binding with theirs.

Patterns Discussion / Re: There must be a pattern for a similar dress?

This is not unlike it. The straps could be made wider, but it does have a waist seam, and elastic across the back, which may not be what you want.

There are boxes alongside the instructions with links to the free designs, although I had to copy and paste them rather than clicking on them and then one had an error in the url (a . where there should have been a / ). One was an £8 design that became free, though.

The first few things I sewed in knit fabric I sewed in exactly the same way as I would have done if they were woven, because I didn't know that I shouldn't. They were absolutely fine. I'm still wearing most of them, and nothing bad has happened. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't be better to do it the right way, of course!
I do have an overlocker now, despite having been the lead singer of the TSP 'We Hate Overlockers' Choir for several years. I love it, and I frequently use it on wovens as well.

Block of the Month 2020 / Re: February's BOM

That looks great. That's exactly what I'm planning to do on my seabirds quilt, which has plain dark blue sashing. Did you use a template?

Well done! They look really lovely. Here's hoping for lots of lovely staycationers this summer, just longing to spend their money on authentic, artisan-produced, Dorset crafts.

Welcome Lounge and Information / Re: Important!! How to resize your Pics!!!
« on: July 17, 2020, 18:49:46 PM »
Yes - please don't add pictures directly from your phone unless you know the settings make the pictures considerably smaller than the default.
UttaRetch wrote us an excellent tutorial for using lunapic to resize pictures, which you can see here. It really is very straightforward.

That is very interesting. I am slightly bemused by the designer who says that they are making clothes more comfortable because it keeps them out of landfill... don't they want to run a successful business by satisfying their customers for their own sake?
