You might be better with charts @sewingj. Lots of patterns come in chart form and once you understand which symbol is for which stitch I find them easier to follow than written patterns.

Nice blanket BTW.

Tech Know How / Re: Problem posting a photo as an attachment
« on: January 08, 2020, 11:34:00 AM »
Well thanks for that explanation Acorn, I tried to post something with a photo the other day and when I previewed it it said something about attachment not uploaded, so I just gave up.

I’ve often had trouble but now realise it was user error. Off to try again :D :D

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Bluprint Sale
« on: January 04, 2020, 09:53:22 AM »
I succumbed to the sale sometime in Dec and got 12 months membership.

I used to watch a lot of Craftsy years ago but didn’t bother when it stopped working on my Kindle.

I’ve watched lots Of Bluprint recently on the iPad and have been pleasantly surprised, a lot of it is very useful. Trying to learn Portuguese knitting now.

I’ve used leather for the soles. My last pair were made using the rough side of the leather which came from the back of a sofa that was being scrapped.

When you say 'support', do you mean 'encouragement'?   ;)

@Acorn I’d be surprised if you needed encouragement  :D but far be it from me to stifle anybody’s urges. I’m going to buy vicariously through you lot. Admire everybody’s purchases then go and root through what I already have. I keep finding things I have no recollection of buying.  :S

I was doing reasonably well with last year’s challenge until I had a bit of a December buying frenzy.

Aiming not to buy anything for a few months (We’ll see how long that lasts!) so am just going to record fabric used.

Otherwise I may have to start a support group for fabric addicts,  any joiners? :ninja:

Fun with Fabric / Re: Sewing with Silk Fabric - tips please
« on: December 27, 2019, 12:17:49 PM »
Can I piggy back as well because I’m looking for silk organza, nothing fancy.

I just want to have a pressing cloth and have been reading about  a method of making a pattern from an existing garment using a frixion pen and a piece of silk.

Why lots of sites seem to think silk organza is made of polyester is beyond me.

@Iminei fascinators are a fab idea. Imagine a flock of butterflies nodding on the head of someone going to Ladies Day.

Mind you my SILs grandma had the best idea. She said she wasn’t going to wear a hat at their wedding, she was going to wear a tantiliser.

Every year I promise I will make one for the following year.  If I ever do it will not be as classy as that one.
