My mum used to knit a lot but sadly she is no longer with us. (Quite emotional writing that even though she passed 25 years ago) Anyway, I have most of her knitting needles, which are the metal ones. I'm gradually buying new ones and opting for bamboo - mostly circulars as I find them very nice to knit with.

I showed your new house to my DH who spent 3 years in Minnesota and he was asking how far north you are? He used to fish on some of the many lakes up there.
Yes, the devastation caused caused by those tornadoes was truly horrendous. We are very fortunate that we don't experience such horrific weather conditions. We had winds of 100mph a couple of weeks ago which caused damage so wind speeds of over 200mph would cause so much more.

Love this thread very late 70s for me and
I wore 3 piece suits with blouse/shirt with long pointy collars - all handmade
I wore black patent strappy sandals from Ravel with them and used to suffer very badly from foot cramps after I took them off.
I also had some very tight leg blue cords with which I wore shoes with a gold coloured bar where the back of the shoe met the heel.

@Bill when you use wash away stabiliser try just swishing the fabric around in a bowl of water to dissolve it.

Definitely take them back even without the receipt. Many of us are not given/accepting receipts atm as it's another potential risk for Covid transmission.

The later quilts credit these two a lot and when I read further I might find out what they do.

@Ploshkin I only got the remainder of my fabric yesterday and when I got home I had some garden stuff to take care of, then I decided late pm wasn't a good time to start. This morning was booster jab time and I'm just home again. Hoping to get to it this weekend. I'm almost hoping that we don't have good weather so that I can stay inside.
