Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: New sewing room

@Diane apologies, it's 5 x 3 metres, not good with measurements, it's a wonder I manage to sew anything  :|

It's plenty big enough for me, it contains a cutting table sized 2 x 1 metre, a daybed, a stereo system and gubbins housed in a cupboard, a smallish table for just my sewing machine and a big ironing board. Oh, and Gussie (dressform).

I've been canny with the space, there are high shelves, the big table has a shelf at the bottom full of fabric, books, magazines, patterns etc.

I'm unable to take pics otherwise I could show it you.

But, let's be honest, however big ones rooms are one always manages to fill them up, right?  ;)

I think @snoozi soozi has a garden sewing room??

I do, it's a log cabin, 4 x 3 metres but just at the mo it's a wee bit chilly, I haven't done any sewing for about a month now  :|

Looks good, I like it. I've made lots of wallets over the years, my poor suffering family members generally get given them as gifts. Strangely enough I've never seen too many of them being actually used. Only mine and the OH  :thinking: :laughing:

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: Denim Rag Quilt

Well done@Sandra

I've had pairs of jeans donated to me in the past but mostly I struggle to know what to do with them, too many seams, pockets and gubbins and not enough denim  :rolleyes:

My mum had one of those, didn't realise they'd be so valuable  :thinking:

Can anyone recommend their favourite pattern for PJ bottoms?

If you want straightforward pj bottoms, no pockets, elastic waist, have a shufty on YouTube, there's no shortage of tut's. This is how I made my first few pairs but then I started using a pattern for dropped crotch trousers as I love them.

Well I would like to join in here and say that my old Janome squeaks. It eases off the more I sew but it's done it ever since I adopted it, about 6 years, and I can't ask the previous owner as she died.

Am I right in thinking that Janome's are self-oiling? (@Iminei ......)?

Every so often it worries me to the point of opening everything up and having a good look but apart from that it runs sweet as a nut  :thinking:

Yeah, cutting on the bias is the prob.
How about cutting a square and folding it to a triangle and stitching up that way?  :thinking:
