Title: FMQ on a treadle??
Post by: KayK on May 03, 2017, 19:33:39 PM
Well, I'm very curious - does anyone here do FMQ on a treadle?  I have a hankering for one .....yet another to add to the collection of oldies!

KK, Lizzie Lennard has a lovely blog, and some excellent video tutorials showing faq on a treacle machine.

Lots of other interesting vintage stuff too.

Hmmmmmm...I'm looking sideways at my treadle and wondering.......wondering......

My treadle is looking sideways at me and wondering......would she....would she......

I reckon Lizzie Lennard would be the one to google for that.   Hmmmmm, I know over on "The Quilting Board"  forum they have a section for vintage machine users..maybe wander over there and have a looksie at some posts or even post the question there?

I've had a couple of goes using mine (singer 201), I've found it harder to keep stitches anywhere near the same length and the tension takes a while to get sorted but I think with more practice it would be fine.

FMQ is my main use for my treadle as there's less stopping and starting than with other things I've sewn on it.

Having an adjustable seat so it's the right height makes a big difference as it can get uncomfortable.

My 201 is a knee operated one - stitches FMQ beautifully  but gave me a sore leg!!
