Title: Junk emails
Post by: Kad on March 12, 2018, 18:39:08 PM
I have today received 2 junk emails to a mailbox that I created specifically for use on this forum. I have had to delete this mailbox and create a new one. Hope that this is not repeated.

Unfortunately some spammers use computers to generate and try out email addresses, and inevitably they sometimes get them right.  And some email providers forward emails to the most similar name - that one makes me furious.

@Kad: just mark them as junk.  The system will soon learn what not to let through.  I use gmail and a microsoft account, both of which allow me to block emails, but I have also reported nuisance mail as attempted scams or phishing expeditions.

If the email address was made up from standard words or "normal"ish names then spammers will go through the list and fire them off in combinations. Sorry this happened, but I can assure you we don't share email addresses anywhere!
