Well we did have some blue sky and even the sun put in an appearance, but the cloud is back and we have showers again.

Quick change of plans - just had phone call from electrician - coming to fit new smoke alarms - 12.45 today.

Heavy cloud and rain when I first woke, but it is clearing now. The rain has stopped and we even have bits of blue sky!

Plus I finally finished writing an email (one of those which needed full information without being too 'wordy').
Now I just need to keep the momentum going and sort some other tasks which have been sitting staring at me for too long.

While I have read with interest other posts on what can be done with an embroidery machine I have been able to walk away because nothing has grabbed me enough wo warrant adding to my collection of 'kit which I never use enough to justify what I spent'.

Your lovely bags are the first time I have been really tempted, Bodge.
So could I ask what machine you did them on?

Happy Birthday  :toast: :cake: :toast:

Christmas is not allowed to start here until Mr Acorn's birthday is over - I tried to persuade him that the lights for the bay trees are actually birthday lights, not Christmas ones, but he wasn't having any of it.  I did manage to sneak in my Christmas table runner on the basis that it has poinsettias, berries and pine trees, none of which are specifically Christmassy.  Not sure how I got away with that!
Now I am the opposite I do aim to have the decorations up before my birthday so I can enjoy them on my day as well.

Mind you my birthday is only a week before Christmas - I might feel different if it was this early.

We have sunshine!!! and it is forecast to get a bit milder.
Our snow always takes a bit longer to disappear completely, surprising how much difference a slight change in height level makes.

I’ve got one of Ziggy's lucets.  Bought it from him at Ally Pally one year.  We’d been doing something like it at college.  Perhaps I ought to get it out sometime.
Me too also (except not bought at Ally Pally).

(Goes off to read the 'can you have too many hobbies' thread).

Thin layer of the white stuff here and it feels cold even with the C/H working hard.

Need to find enough energy to go on a GUAG hunt (not sure when i last saw it).

@Ohsewsimple I have an email folder with an acronym whose meaning only I know,  filled with the ruder and more stupid requests, demands and complaints I received.  I suppose I should delete it now.
Keep it and have a look at it if you start to regret retiring.

@Acorn 'Retirement is when you stop living at work and start working at living'.

@Diane if you have everything and your DH can't think of anything he wants/needs, as long as you have some sort of celebration, perhaps you could think of something you could both combine all your 'presents' into.
Something for the home? a special holiday?
