Any advice please in keeping track of where you are on a pattern?

A Good Yarn / Moss stitch
« on: December 06, 2022, 09:09:00 AM »
On the basis that the only stupid question is one you don't ask...

Does moss stitch produce a reversible piece of kntting?

You know how a pattern gives instructions for 'left side' and says to then reverse the instructions for 'right side' so if you knit two 'left' sides in moss stitch could you then just turn one to make a right side?

First attempt to post vanished  :headbang:

If I manage to attach the photos and send post

Photos should show image that came with pattern and two my two border options (I don't have enough of either to do all four the same colour)

Not sure if I am overthinking this but I don't want to take the easy way out and regret it or do the more complicated one and get it wrong.

Always supposing I can get the photos loaded and identified. Hopefully the pic that came with the pattern and the two border options.

Technical Help / Help needed - shortening stretch jersey trousers.
« on: April 19, 2021, 17:41:09 PM »
Title says it all  :)

New jersey trousers delivered today. I like them and they fit nicely - except they are too long (I knew they would be) so I need to shorten them.

Please what is the best way to re-hem stretch jersey?

Could I ask those of you who trace out your patterns which pens you would recommend?
I am using Swedish Tracing Paper if that makes any difference.

Also recommendations for tape please.

Patterns Discussion / Rebecca Page Patterns?
« on: January 28, 2021, 09:24:35 AM »
A link to this designer popped up on my FB page this morning, mainly pushing her 'capsule collection'.
https://rebecca-page.com/product/capsule-wardrobe-collection/

She is UK based so I have no idea why things are priced in dollars

So I wondered if anyone had come across her before.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Small item storage
« on: October 22, 2020, 12:20:35 PM »
How do you store your 'small items' 'notions' so that you can find them again  :P

Things like hooks and eyes, snap fasteners (am I the only one who calls them press studs?) bias binding/tape assorted - stuff like that.

I have no idea how i came by these (possibly from a sales table at some point) and I know I will never do anything with them.

Two patterns
No 1 The Going-away Dress of Charlotte Bronte
No 2 A Dress of the Revolution

Apparently this has an 'endless' hoop.
No idea if Singer embroidery machines are recommended.

Vintage Machines / Buttonholer for a 99K
« on: September 14, 2019, 22:28:00 PM »
As I will be getting my 99K back overhauled and with a motor I was wondering about treating it to a buttonholer, particularly since I have seen posts praising the buttonholes these machines can make.

Can one of the vintage experts in here tell me what the correct buttonhole attachment for a 99K is please (and the best place to find them)?

I have been moving some of my books around and found myself wondering whether a cull might be a good idea.
I would be grateful for any comments about which of these are definitely worth hanging on to -

Technical Help / Using Swedish Tracing Paper
« on: February 24, 2019, 12:29:45 PM »
Does anyone use this for making toiles?
I know you are supposed to be able to sew into it, but it feels so flimsy.

Any advice welcome.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Empress Mills
« on: January 13, 2019, 14:32:35 PM »
I have an email from Empress Mills - January Sale now on.
Worth a look as some things have a good reduction on them.

I am now considering replacing my sleeve board having decided I couldn't justify it - or maybe the mini steam iron 30% off.
