Today... One thread per day / Re: Tuesday 11th May

Weather here is 'changeable', cloudy with sunny intervals interspersed with heavy showers... :'(

Absolutely kn*****ed today.  I haven't been sleeping too well, and we had Lilya's 'family' birthday on Sunday, and finished the day sitting in a girlie birthday teepee while the heavens opened - children weren't bothered in the slightest as they climbed in the hot tub!  Us grandparents were perished!  Lil's other grandma made it - I was shocked, as she had only had spinal surgery last week.  Anyone heard of a 'spinal stroke' - I hadn't, but that is what this poor lady had.

So, onto the other reason for me being kn*****ed.  This lovely lady usually takes care of Theo on a Monday, and has done for a very long time, but it was absolutely impossible that she would be able to do that for several weeks.  So, OH and I had to leave home at 7.30, so that OH would be in work on time - no 2nd car now, we need to re-think that one.  A full day of Theo, who was really out of his element, although he was a very good boy, and a Nana, who was also out of her element!

I now know more than I thought necessary about Paw Patrol...  Shame really, as I went to their house so that he could play with his own toys, but the weather was filthy...

Back to normal until next week... I will make the most of my undemanding life in the meantime!

Been thinking a lot about those people who are grieving, troubled, or in distress.

Good Morning All!  And a beautiful one it is too - but still bitterly cold.

Birdies are noisy, but still no sign of the lovely Pheasants...

Lilya's 8th birthday today, but at least it isn't a lockdown birthday like last year.  A Teepee (sp?) in the garden for 7 friends - given the weather it's probably wise.  The children are only allowed in the house to use the toilet...

Going to finish the sun dress later, and do some more work on the Poppins 'Jolly Holiday' hat.

Waiting for news of eldest DD's doctor appointment - fingers firmly crossed.  DGD found a nasty looking mole at the base of her neck, when she was washing her hair...  :(

:grouphug:  :grouphug:
Pic is Lilya's birthday bunting - with added jewels! Rough Pics, sorry.

Tbh I thought the Dunnocks had left us, as the nest was left empty las year, but the place where they were cavorting, was right near the old nest, so maybe they will be setting up home again this year...

Bright sunshine to start the day, but, just as I got back from my outing, the heavens opened...

Yes, I've been out for an hour or so doing errands - go me!  I went into the village for PVA glue, birthday card, wrapping paper and voting.  OH has bought two birthday cards for Lilya - Princess cards!  She thinks she is far too cool for those!  ;)  So, card, flamingo paper bought, and PVA glue bought.  Then a wander to the church for a visit to my two aunties in the churchyard, and then the polling station.

Back now, and I'm jiggered! Bowl of cereal at the PC, with a cup of tea, then a little paperwork.

I went off piste yesterday, and started the Poppins hat.  The project stalled because I wasn't sure what to do about the hat, so yesterday I just dived in, with lace and PVA glue.  It seems to be shaping up, hence the trip for PVA glue - I'll put some pics up later...

Just spotted two little Dunnocks have just been having a frollicking time on the lawn!

Bright sunshine here (for now), but very wet out there, and my garden is a mess, after the battering it took from the hailstones yesterday.

Finished bunting for Lilya, but by the time I'd finished the stoning, my left shoulder was in agony, so lavish dollops of anti inflammatory cream has been applied...

@justpottering , I have the same problem regarding meals.  I really am fed up eating my own food.  I think I'll have a good look at what's in the fridge and take it from there.

Paperwork this morning, then a clean up in the sewing room.  I did a bit before I came down, but I think it needs more than a bit of 'spit and polish' - or maybe I'll just shut the door...

Just sitting at the PC, and heard an almighty clattering.  We have hailstones the size of golf balls coming down - and it's freezing!

Poor little blue tit had just gone out braving the elements when it came down... :S

Much wind and rain here - it's brought several large climbing rose branches down, but thankfully none off the larger trees.  We will need a big clear up when the weather settles down.

After a miserable weekend, I have few plans apart from finishing the bunting for Lilya's party.  I did cut out and sew the Camilia dress to help a friend out, but have to wait for her to catch up before doing a review - it won't be pretty!

I have to say that on the whole I've been really happy with online birthday cards (my handwriting has deteriorated badly), and found a card on Zazzle which I personalised for Lilya's birthday, and pressed checkout.  Delivery between 11-12th of May!  Her birthday is on Friday.  :'(  So, I now have to get one from a shop...  Why so long??  I also tried several other companies, and none had delivery earlier than the 10th - and they call that expedited delivery!!  Not impressed...

Hugs for those who need them  :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Absolutely filthy day here, wind and rain, and more of the same forecast...

DD and SiL are headed back from the lakes, and the weather is awful.  SiL's mum was taken ill with a suspected spinal stroke on Saturday so not a good weekend for them.

I'm off upstairs sewing shortly, at least I will have a new dress after a washout Bank Holiday...

Thinking of all of you with far more troubles than I have...  :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Good morning, and a Happy May Day to you all!

Sunny here, but cloud keeps coming over, and the garden is wet from the overnight rain, it does feel a tad warmer though.

Quiet on the birdie front - I think they are all busy, and the Pheasants seem to have gone away...

@Catllar and Mr C, have a lovely anniversary day!  45 years, and no parole?  That's good going!  :toast:

@Diane , the Hoopoe is my DGD's favourite bird since she was tiny and we bought her a bird book.  Unfortunately, I think we are too far north to ever see one...

Carpet shopping today  :x, hopefully while we are out, we can find a quiet garden centre to visit.  Not holding my breath though.

Have a lovely day all, and special thoughts to those who need a

I love bunting too!  I haven't made any for a while, must look into it...

Lucky Auntie, the bunting will look lovely on her seating area!

Just remembered this!  I think I may qualify to enter - a shorts set for Lilya?

It will have its button/fastening on tomorrow, and I will post my entry.

It's hard isn't it @Bertha Badger ?  I bought chambray online, after being on a fabric diet for ages.  When it arrived, it was a pale bright blue!  Awful.

So, I've been put off online fabric shopping for now.  I do think if they offered a video, that may give a better idea of what you are buying.
