A Good Yarn / Unpicking/Frogging
« on: April 11, 2023, 11:33:37 AM »
This one is the bane of my life, especially if I'm knitting a pattern.  I can be merrily knitting along, and realise that several rows back, I have done C2F instead of C2B... or, I have miscounted the stiches in my pattern, and thrown the pattern out.

I've looked at lots of tutorials about just unpicking and re-knitting the area where you have made the mistake, but I can't master it, and end up unpicking anyway...

What are your tried and tested methods for correcting mistakes?  Am I missing something?

A Good Yarn / Re: Looking for an OOP King Cole pattern

@Diane you are a star  :star:  I now have a download copy of this pattern (which I think is lovely!), and I'm ready to go!

Thank you so much, I'd forgotten all about this company, although I am registered with it!

A Good Yarn / Looking for an OOP King Cole pattern
« on: April 07, 2023, 12:35:55 PM »
My dear friend sent me a large bag of Sirdar yarn this week, and I thought I would spend a little time finding a pattern.  Well, I found it, but, nothing in my life being straighforward, it's OOPrint...

I've tried searching t'internet, but to no avail, and I wondered if any of you lovely people would know where else I could find a copy.  I don't mind a pdf version, I would just like to find a copy of this pattern...

It's a DK pattern by King Cole, number 4728King Cole 4728

Many thanks in advance

Sorry I didn't make it yesterday, but I was waiting for the PC Tech to fix my internet.

I did do some sewing though.  Not sure how successful I've been, and I don't think I'll know until my project is finished.

I decided to use as many small pieces of fabric as I had in the stash, and I've made strips of various widths, depending on the available fabric.  The pieces are also as random as I can make them, and depend solely on whether they fit.

I sewed 5 strips together, and it looks about big enough for the back of a shirt/top.  A bit more overlocking strips this morning, then, I must decide on a pattern.

Hoping to join in later, but it depends what time the PC techy guy arrives - it's running like a slug again, and is hit and miss if I can get online...

I have started making my patchwork fabric though, so when the PC is fixed, I'll take some pics.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: I’m new here :)

Hello and welcome from me too @Bibilee778 !  I also have a Bernina 730, although I don't use it very often.  Helen Howes does keep some Bernina stuff, but she is mainly Vintage Singers.

Bambers in Manchester may be able to help, and I'm sure other members will have more helpful suggestions.

Hello and welcome from me too @Clem !  Not a jeans maker myself, although I do make trousers, but I'm sure someone will come along shortly with helpful advice.

Really disappointed to have spent most of my time searching for my fabric yesterday, but it did give me thinking time...

I saw an old episode of Escape to the Chateau the other night, and the lady was on whose patchwork top I had admired, and promised to make myself.  That didn't happen last year, but I have great hopes this year.

Off to try some fabrics out...

Found!  Sewing room is a tip, and it's time to start dinner - but the fabric is found!  Behind the chest of drawers... :embarrassed:

So, I now have to dig out all the other things which are there - kitchen tongs to the rescue, and then put everything back...

The only thing I can think @SewRuthieSews , is that I have left it somewhere outside the sewing room - perhaps to answer the door, on which case, OH would have seen it as fair game - fodder for the bin...

I do have more denim, but it's coarser than the one I wanted to use.  I'll also have to re-cut the one I've already got pinned... :boohoo:

I'm going to investigat the bin now  :S

Having a bit of a nightmare here.  I found some denim fabric left over from my last project, it would be tight, but I'm sure there would have been enough.  I cut out the smallest apron, lining and binding, yesterday, and put the fabric to one side...

Now, can I find the rest of the fabric, can I heck... I've emptied drawers, boxes, and bags, and it is nowhere to be found... I feel like weeping.

How does a large piece of denim lose itself?
