Morning all - @WildAtlanticWay - sincerely hope it managed to survive the you say it is just too hot to work at enough in the North so will be much warmer where you are.
@Greybird - can hardly believe it is a year since your bereavement.  Best Wishes to DH - trust he gets well enough to finally lay your Dad in his final resting place.

Morning all - another hot one here....forecast is for sun and showers from Tuesday.  I am off to my sister today so probably won't be posting for a few days....I find it hard to see on the phone....much prefer the PC.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.
Just want to say I really appreciate my cyber sewing are here when others have gone away.

Afternoon all - a cool morning but the sun has now made it.  I did my errands while it was cool.
Sorry to hear of kitties and humans feeling low.  I know how it is eating on my own @Greybird - mine is sort of permanent is horrible to sit at a table on one's own.
I am heading off to my sister for a few nights - the garden and plants can look after themselves.  So I better get a few things thrown in a bag and sort myself out.
Have a good day all.

Wishing you a super birthday and many happy returns!!

@realale - well it's wonderful you have such a long friendship and can emphasise with each other.
Twenty one years ago my Mother was 90 and suffering dementia.  She never wanted to go to a nursing home but had to for her and our sakes....she actually wasn't aware where she was anyhow.  When a door banged closed etc she thought she was back in her childhood home and said 'so and so' was always banging the door closed.  The day which was awful for me was the day I walked into her room and she didn't know me....I think that was the day she died for me.  She has now been gone for just over 21 years and there is not a day in which I don't think of her...her sayings come back to me frequently.
You have done your utmost to keep your dear Mother at home with's time for a change....hard to do but if you don't your own health will suffer.  Take care.

Morning everyone - weather -  the sun is only coming out just now - so lovely and cool this morning and a slight breeze through open windows on both sides of the house.  Yesterday I created a 'breezeway' by opening the front door and the back door and sitting between the two.  It reminded me of the old homesteads in America where they built their wee houses with a 'breezeway' between two blocks - one side was the living quarters and one side the worked in those very hot temperatures.
Today I have some calligraphy to do so no outside work - just will settle down and get it done - it was all arranged weeks ago but someone didn't do their job and it's now a rush job.
@Greybird - good to hear about your DH....
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to.

Morning all - I am happy to report that I had a complete night's sleep for the first time in 4 months.....was so tired after cutting the lawns I couldn't keep my eyes bed by 9.30......couldn't believe I didn't waken until after 7.
Today is binday, same as @Iminei -  brown bin now hosed out and to keep it as clean as possible.  The blue bin can be lifted after 7.30 but the brown bin is always later - today it was after 11.00.
Have managed to clear out the dead flowers from the hearth and going to do a new arrangement with branches of small rambler rose and everlasting sweet peas....that's all that's in bloom at the moment....would buy flowers if there was a chance I would get my money's worth out of them....the budlea (spelling) has gone over.
I will hoover when the flowers are arranged, maybe a duster over the tv and coffee table but that's about it.
@Sandra - Gertie does need a little lesson - just send her off to @Iminei - I think at some point in their lives our children do show their annoyance - thankfully she is not the worst I've heard of - it will pass.
Thinking of all of you who are needing some caring.......have a lovely day.....keep cool, if you can.

@b15erk - so sorry to hear of your test result.....please take great it will prove to be very mild.

@BrendaP = this is the sticks - no fancy techy stuff I'm afraid.

I am off to bed as I am exhausted after having cut all the lawns and got the bins out and a little water on the necessary plants....the lawns are looked like they need more than one shower.

Take care all.

Morning all - got up early, for me that is, washed the hair and sat down at 8.20 ready to ring for a Dr's appointment at 8.30......didn't get an answer on speed dialling until almost 8.50 and then sat in a queue for 10 mins....I knew there would be no appointments left but stayed on in hope.....all Drs on holiday except two, one of which was called to an emergency first thing....there has got to be some more civilised way of booking an appointment....this should be on the rant thread.
The male fraternity can skip this paragraph......I have discovered I have a possible prolapse - likely lifting heavier stuff than I should - not in pain at all - just discomfort you know where.  If you have experienced this I would be grateful to hear how you coped and how it was treated....yea, I've read google etc but your thoughts would be more interesting.
Hope you all have a lovely's another hot one here.

Evening everyone... a scorcher of a day....was up early and painted windowsills....went to water plants on DH's grave....called with family for a cold drink (usually coffee).
Brief visit to Lidl for tomatoes - sick of salad to be honest - salmon and salad for lunch.  Did flute all (as we say hereabouts) and felt so dreadful I lay down on the bed for half an hour.  Then got up and put on the cool cotton sheets.  Had a mug of tea and some teacakes.  Then went out and put another coat of paint on the windowsills....watered the plants and locked drinking yet another large glass of water....oh and actually got into shorts today....hate to show the legs but needs must....they are almost to the knee mind you.  It looks like there is little respite from the heat for a while.....find it hard to have it so hot one cannot do much.
Hope you all get some sleep tonight.

Good Morning everyone - and yes, it is another good, nay very good, morning.......whilst I am not a sun worshiper and feel the heat it is good that we have a summer unlike parts of Northern Europe.
I don't intend to do anything which doesn't need done.....hand washed my smalls and pj's and a couple of tops - ironing can wait.....have duvet cover and pillowcases to the future.
We are not used to such hot temperatures and Northern Ireland Water are warning us to be careful with the watering the garden (as I did last night not having been aware of the warning at all as only saw the 10 pm news) yes, will be careful from now on and the dishwashing water will do the plants...mostly.
Hope you all have as good a day as you wish.  @Ploshkin - so sorry you have lost a friend.....will her DH be someone who can cope with what's ahead of is so devastating to lose one's loving partner....sadly I know how it feels.

@Tamnymore `-  midges never did this to me.........the baking soda is proving to be more beneficial than anything else.
I hope by tomorrow the annoyance will have gone from them and they'll just be red blobs.
As long as they aren't cleg bites...they drive me crazy and last for a long time.
Now off to bed to read per chance to sleep.....covers down to minimum of course.
Goodnight all....sleep well if you can!!

Evening everyone - late to the party today.....aah.....what a day 27 degrees....much too hot for me....I have had a lovely afternoon - afternoon tea at a posh was very good but I didn't eat a lot of the sweet things...beautiful setting too.
It was a dilemma as to what to companions were suitably dressed in jazzy cotton dress I made last year and never worn was about 2 sizes too large so had to ditch that....ended up wearing trousers and a cotton top....a rather expensive one at that but it looked good....
The cotton dress is being taken in - darts in the back and a serious amount off the sides....hopefully I will get it finished for tomorrow's hot day.
Unfortunately when gardening I got three bites on my right arm and they must have been mosquitos as they are really annoying me....even proper bite stuff is not really helping so just earlier I mixed up some baking soda and water to a paste and covered them.  They are a little better but why, oh why, do these little guys like me so much?
Now off to sew the dress as I tacked it up while watching F1 Qualifying.
It's got cloudy here - you'd think it was going to rain....but didn't last night when it just looked liked now too.
Take care everyone.

Morning all - beautiful day here...20 degrees already.  Just need to visit my housebound woman today....collect something from M & S and little else.
@b15erk - this is what you need for those rats -
Amazing how quickly the terriers can kill that vermin.

Have a good day all.

Good afternoon from a very sunny and warm Northern Ireland.
Our weather is set fair even into next week.  Might be cloudy some days but good enough.
I have been gardening quite a bit so decided to take a day off to do some tidying around inside the house.  Have two pair of trousers to alter....possibly taking in (with all the gardening it is surprising to me just how toned my legs have become and have lost inches in waist and legs) and hemmed.
So I had better get started those jobs.  Need a pair of navy trousers to wear on Friday.....I am being picked up by two good customers who are now friends, taken to a rather swish hotel for afternoon tea.  I am gobsmacked to be honest.....but great to have company to eat for a change.
Have a good day everyone....sorry some of you are wet.
