A bit of a 'do' / Bridesmaids dresses...one down one to go
« on: September 06, 2018, 14:00:07 PM »
three years ago I found out that my son and his fiance had set the date for their wedding, 6th October 2018.....and I was asked to make the bridesmaids dresses .... I said yes...maybe too eagerly  -< as it was before I knew what she wanted  ! ! ! !....then I got sent a photo ...and that was the brief....oh and she wanted tulle layers ....that had to be just peeping out under the hem of the dress....and she wanted piping to match the lining fabric, around the shape of the heart, the neck and the sleeves..... :S

So I set about doing some research online, about how to do hear shape cutouts on dresses....found a fab tutorial online from this blogger, for a similar thing and went from there.... .

Embroidery Machines / Brother Innovis 1 - any info please....
« on: May 10, 2018, 10:11:08 AM »
Hello to all, its been a long time since I posted on here, I'm still dong bits and bobs sewing wise,  :o but I really need your help... -<

I've been thinking for a while now, almost 12 months, about buying a sewing and embroidery machine after seeing a friend use her V5.....and this weekend, I just missed out on getting a secondhand, almost new, V7 from a dealer for just under £2000 ...but after talking to the man on the phone, he told me he has another machine coming into his shop soon and has offered me first refusal of it, at the same price as the V7 was being offered, the machine he's offered me as an alternative is a Brother Innovis 1, sewing and embroidery machine, I was told this machine originally sold for new for around £6000...and all I know so far, (as I've not yet seen it), is that it includes four upgrades and its an all bells and whistles machine..(which is nice, but it's not really what I'm after, I'd be happy with a V5).

The problem I have and I'm hoping you can help with is....the machine I'm being offered has got such a lot of tech stuff on it, (scanning ability, camera and other techy stuff) which due to its age.... is this something that may or may not be an issue ?..... and I don't know about the stitch count on the machine, or even if it has this capability....is this something that will tell me whether the machine is on it's last legs ...?

I've not been able to find out much about this machine online, as far as reviews go.... or as to when this machine 'was new' or even if its still available. There are lots of videos showing what it can do and the features it has on it....and it has a lot  :S... which I agree makes it an impressive machine, but I'm worried about how long the techy stuff will last before I start to have problems with it... and if I'd be better off just getting a V5 from new for a little extra money....

Any suggestions would be appreciated..... :D

Hi, I'm new... / Just popping in....
« on: January 16, 2018, 12:04:44 PM »
Hello everyone, and my apologies for not being around much at all since the forum started.....but it's lovely to pop in and see it has grown and is doing very well..... 0_0....Congratulation to everyone concerned, you have all clearly worked hard since TSF dissapeared...Thank you.

As for me, life has been a bit 'full on' over the last 18 months and I have thought of you all a lot, I have popped in once or twice to try to keep up with everyone....(and for some quiet time)....and I will try to pop in more this year...however, the New Year has started pretty much the same way as it ended..... busy.... ! ! ! I have managed to get 'some' sewing tasks done in between the ups and downs of life, albeit a few small quilts...sorry no pics as they were made as presents / gifts for friends and I had to make them 'quickly'.... :( also I've done a few small sewing tasks/ jobs for other people too.....but nothing major ....however, our family has a wedding coming up later this year, my son is getting wed to his longtime fiance, ...YAY....(they have been together for ten years so it's about time...lol.. :*.) and I've been asked to make the bridesmaids dresses for my grandaughters now aged five and two, which I'm looking forward to doing. So, with that in mind I hope to see more of you all soon.....keep sewing  x x x
