I was quizzing this afternoon so I did an hour or so this morning on my dressing gown and fixed my mannequin Mimi back to the correct height, she has slipped down a few inches whilst wearing my heavy cape, now wearing the part finished dressing gown. Dressing gown is ready for the side seams to be sewn and then the front band and hem to be sorted out.
Hello @Elnnina I am here too, haven't done much to my dressing gown but my machine is all threaded up and ready to sew. I have tacked the sleeves and the little loops for the belt. I've got the pattern and jersey fabric out ready to cut out a long sleeved top. I am tired and achy after a morning baking and batch cooking so that's my lot for today.
Good afternoon, just a quick visit here today to finish the hems of the linen trousers then I am off for a natter with a neighbour. I have been busy this morning so I need a change of scene and a walk round the block. Happy sewing everyone.
Good afternoon, I have made a start on the grey sweater knit dress after changing the needle and threading the machine up with grey thread. I haven't finished the linen trousers hem yet and they need a press. Just got interrupted with a scam call from "BT Openreach Network Security Department " he hung up when I clearly wasn't taken in by his spiel. Now going to tidy up and put the machine away.
That is really interesting @Greybird, some mantuas were worn over those wide frames and ladies had to walk sideways through doors. I found out that one of my victorian ancestors was a silk blouse maker using a sewing machine, other family members were silk weavers in London, Essex and Norfolk in the 18th century.
Not able to be here today as I hosting the quiz but I finished all the tacking on my trousers this morning so some sewing was done. Enjoy your sewing this afternoon.
