Patterns Discussion / Re: What a Numpty!

@dolcevita , I wish I had ignored the call for a tidy up! :S

It was ridiculous.  Over 8 hours on Sunday, and bin bag after bin bag going downstairs.  I was ruthless!

I still have the drawers to do, so I'm bracing myself!

It looks tidy, but I think I threw my mojo out in one of the bags...

Well, it's gone in the bin!  Already moved on - to another irritation.

I decided to do the Vogue top again, only I want to lengthen it to dress length.  Found the pattern easily in my newly organised pattern box.  Found some fabric I like and started to lay it out - only to find that the front flounce piece is missing!

So, spent an hour cobbling the piece together, to find that it's not going to be straightforward to lengthen it as it flares out at the side.

I'm going to walk away now, today has not been kind to me... :'( :S

Patterns Discussion / What a Numpty!
« on: Yesterday at 11:43:48 »
While I was having my clearout of the sewing room on Sunday, I came across 4 pdf's. I knew what the first three were, but the last one is a mystery.  So, to try to tidy things, I decided to cut out, and accurately lable the patterns.  The first was easy, just an overnight bag pattern, easily sorted. I moved on to the Burda Trench coat which proved to be a bit of a marathon.  I started sticking yesterday, while I waited for the Carpet man.  I got up at stoopid o'clock this morning, so thought I would carry on where I left off yesterday.

Just finished, and all cut out, but, I noticed the test square in the paper bin, and thought I would double check it.  I could have wept.  Instead of measuring up at 4", it measured 41/2"...

I'm usually so careful about printing the test square and measuring it before printing off the full pattern.

My mind is now racing, looking for quick fixes, but I think the answer will be, that I must print it again.

A random thought passed through my mind, but not sure it would work.  As Burda patterns don't have seam allowances, I wondered if I sewed without adding s/a's that might work?

Any thoughts?  Or is it to be consigned to the bin?  I'm thinking the latter... :boohoo: :'( :boohoo: :headbang: :boohoo:

@Silver Rose , I ran out of hangers with clips, but I was too lazy to go back and sew loops in.  So, I used the spring clips I use instead of pins sometimes, and clipped the skirt to the bottom of the hanger.  It worked well.

Good morning all!

We have bright sunshine here, but not sure how warm it is, as I haven't been outside yet.

Fingers crossed the double bed will be gone shortly.  We brought it downstairs as we had a lot of interest from FB, but after 3 no-shows, it is going to someone DD knows.

Gardening and pattern sticking together yesterday.  I found 4 printed off patterns, and only 2 have anything on them to identify what they are.  I'm just finishing the Burda Trench coat (remember that?), then onto a Seamwork pattern, and the last I have no idea...

If it's warm enough, I'll do a bit of gardening - the wind and rain made a big mess.

After that, make the phone calls I didn't make yesterday... :|

Kind thoughts for those of you feeling low, and in poor spirits

Hello there @Cazlyn and welcome to TSP!

Help and encouragement in abundance here, and so many talented sewers and great enablers! Most of us have doubts about what we make, but with every project we get better and learn new techniques.

Look forward to seeing some of your projects.

Good to see you are making progress @Silver Rose .  It's no fun sewing if you are in pain.

Morning all!  Grey and cool here again, but washing is now out and fingers firmly crossed.  I didn't peg out yesterday, because it looked like it might rain all day - it didn't, so, I'm hoping the same happens today.

Very busy weekend, and I'm likely to be busy, busy, busy for the next couple of weeks as the carpet man is due to start laying the new carpet.  I now need to get my skates on and look for some new armchairs.  I've been looking for weeks, but some companies have 3 month delivery dates, so I'm looking for someone who has stock ready to deliver.

Yesterday was a marathon.  I had a three point plan for tidying the sewing room, but that went out of the window, and I just went for it.  Over 8 hours it took.  My bones are now screaming, but, I have a nice tidy sewing room/office.  OH came in to take the hoover downstairs, and made a remark that went 'I thought you were having a clear out, it looks the same' - he just escaped with his life.  Sometimes his 'humour' goes right over my head...

Expecting the carpet man this morning, so if I go out to put topsoil on the front garden, I won't miss him.  I'm desperate for this carpet, the house has been a WIP for so long, I've forgotten what it's like to be tidy.

Hope you all have a settled and peaceful day

Well, the long forecast rain eventually arrived in buckets, but mercifully during the night.  For once I slept soundly, and didn't hear a thing!  So, no garden watering today :)

Out for a pub meal with DD and family.  Lovely meal, but the chair was so hard it made my back hurt.  The children were beautifully behaved, apart from Theo knocking his Apple juice all over the table...  It felt a bit more normal - apart from having to wear masks when we moved - which is fine by me...

I didn't wear the new skirt after all - OH's lengthy silence was enough for it to go back in the wardrobe...

I got my boxes for the new shelf unit yesterday too, so I may spend an hour or so filling them.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone, especially friends with troubles

Grey and cold here, but the promised rain hasn't happened.

I've been looking at armchairs on t'internet, since I woke at stoopid o'clock worrying that I hadn't yet got any...

I started tidying a few bags of fabric yesterday, and came across a little beauty I'd forgotten about - so I made a skirt.  Just enough fabric left to make a top too!

Just going to change the bed, bathe and wash my hair, although I doubt I'll put washing in, it's looking decidedly dodgy weatherwise.

Shopping later, then up to DD's for Early Fathers Day.

Kindest thoughts to all of you who may need a little comfort

Good morning all!  The weather here remains dry, but is cloudy and cool this morning.  It's been threatening rain for a couple of days, but not materialised, so, I'll be out with the hose this shortly.

I worked really hard to get the sewing room straight yesterday, but there is still a lot to do.

Still no luck with armchairs, I'm getting terribly bored now.

I did get a result with the PPal pmt taken for something I hadn't signed up for though.

Going to make an effort to ring friends later - I've been neglectful...

Thinking about all our friends who are struggling with health and other problems, particularly @Greybird
