Sewing Machines / Re: Janome 230DC
« on: July 19, 2021, 12:17:53 PM »
When I collect my replacement foot pedal from Franklins this week I am going to look at the Janome 230DC. It is a small step up from my Alfa and computerised which will be new to me. Has anybody had one or is using one now? I would appreciate your comments, thank you in advance.
Just had a look on the SMD website, it appears that you get quite a lot for your money but the machine gets good reviews.
Haven't got on myself but take some fabrics and see if they will let you play.

Wow, thats great.

Thank you for all your nice comments. The quilt was done to match bedroom wallpaper which is peachy/pink, cream and grey and a coppery line, one wall and the carpet are navy blue. It is quilted with a copper coloured thread on the top. When DS saw the quilt his comment was :- " very nice, I think we will redecorate" He was joking fortunately.

Here we hope, is the latest offering from chez maliw.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

This is the last quilt for grand offsprung.

I'm undecided still, the 2 hour drive there and back and stupid amount to park don't inspire me this year and as I'm not quilting as much at the moment ---------. Will have to speak to my friend and see if she is interested.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Jacquard/Brocade suggestions Men's Jacket??

Ooooh Bombay Stores, I've been there a few times many years ago, talk about a kid in a sweet shop. I got some lovely shoes there and they were really cheap - prices have increased a lot since then. Fabric for DD bridesmaid dresses and all the mens waistcoats came from there. Hope they have what you want/need.

For a first attempt that looks really good. Don't forget only you know where the mistakes might be but once it's in use a lot of things disappear into the quilt. Keep up the good work.

In the wardrobe / Re: rotary cutter

Scissors for adult clothes as I don't have a big enough cutting mat but I do use a rotary cutter - 28mm for my Angel baby stuff as I find it easier than scissors for some reason - and quicker.

I've just made 2 quilts for a doll's pram but already given and no photos !!!!!

Go for it, I made a hexi quilt - took me about three years of intermittent stitching but it went to Rhodes and Italy as I could just take bits. It's really good to be able to take about with you (we were delayed in Rhodes and I sewed at the airport).
